Has a light or refreshing berry flavor after reaching max ripeness. If picked under-ripe, it will only have a sugar or melon flavor. Exclusively & simply sweet flavoring. Nothing more to it than that. Figgy like a fig newton. Ususally the least favorite as it is the least complex.A simply sweet underlying figgy flavor (sugar), but also has honey at the eye or throughout.Sweetened by rich honey. Often found at the eye, pooled in the void or glistening throughout. A sweet tooth's favorite.Has the underlying berry flavors described in "Berry," but also has honey throughout. A favorite category among collectors.Often strawberry-like, but can have a more intense flavor similar to that of raspberries or other berries. Sometimes acidic.Could be classified as a form of berry. Often tangy, citrusy or acidic. Usually has pineapple, peach or other hints of tropical flavors.

• There are 3 main flavors of figs. Sugar, Honey & Berry. Some varieties however fall into two categories that form their own separate category. • Although two different varieties may be in the same category, they can of course have different properties. Whether they are more mild, rich, sweet, intensity or have a completely different texture, it's important to know that one fig in each category can't cover all of the awesomeness that the diversity of fig varieties we have can offer.

• Please note that flavors WILL change depending on your climate. In addition.. if you allow a fig to ripen for one more day that can also have a dramatic impact on flavor. If you taste honeydew or melon flavors in your figs, it's probably because it was picked too soon. Be patient and let your figs develop their full flavor.FloreaBrunswick FamilyImproved CelesteAlmaAtreano FamilyHardy Chicago FamilyNative De Argentile

• My goal is to help new & old fig growers by exposing them to as many flavor categories as possible. This way a collector can be more informed and make better decisions when selecting new varieties to grow based off of their preferred flavor category.Teramo UnkWhite Marseilles FamilyMalta BlackIschia Black (UCD)
