Longshore drift comments
At the beginning, the tennis ball traveled toward the East. Later on, the ball traveled toward the west. When big waves took the ball further up the beach, sometimes the ball was left on the beach for a couple of waves.
It moved in at an angle to the "right" and then straight down due to the gravity. The ball does not move far from one wave - only a few cm.
The tennisball is moving northwest (right) through swash and backwash, through the help of gravity. The ball moved from southeast to northwest as that is the wind dirrection. The wind is pushing the ball right. The ball is being pulled and pushed by the waves up and down the shore (swash & backwash). The ball moved 25 metres in 10 min so it moved 2.5 metres per minute.
From 1:00 to 7:00, ball moved south west. From 7:00 to 10:00, ball moved back and forth and did not move further. From 10:00-15:00, ball moved further south west.
-swash moves ball up the beach (backwash is stronger than the swash)
Occasionally ball got stuck behind a rock
Due to human interferance our ball got stuck on Sean's footprint caused by one really high swash ; but before that inused the ball follwed the movements of the swash and backwash moving slighty to the right.
