We will be hiking a number of technical canyons, and the canyons themselves are yet to be determined, based on the condition of them at the time (water levels, ice, anchors, etc.) Students will be taught how to rappel in Durango before we leave. Mike Bienkowski and Genevieve Buzan-DansereauDesert Backpacking Out of townJoin us for a week of connecting to each other and the landscape through camping and backpacking in Cedar Mesa, part of Bears Ears National Monument. We will be prepping our gear and food, learning to pack for backpacking, and spending two nights in one of the most culturally and ecological significant wild areas in the Southwest. We will also pay a visit to Canyons of the Ancients National Monument where a ranger will teach us about the history of the Ancestral Puebloan people who originally stewarded this region and whose descendents still hold powerful ties to the area. . 10$50Wilderness experience, navigation skills, place-based ecologyYes
