The two interns and I were interviewed by an CBS (KX4) affiliate during an annual field day in Minot, ND. We spent an hour working with the Television crew on multiple topics; iPIPE, scouting, diseases, sunflower pests, etc... The scouts were filmed walking through fields, scouting and entering data. As I understand it, the segment became a large portion of their ag show the next week. Probably about 1,000 viewers.

A questionnaire was developed explained and distributed at a Citrus Expo meeting attended by at least 300 growers and other industry reps. 73 completed forms were returned and are not being analyzed. Two interns were engaged. Alfredo Villalobos and Victoria Adeleye. Alfredo was a freshman at Grinnell College and originally from Immokalee. He was mentored by myself and my staff and learned about citrus and vegetable IPM, in part by assisting with many research and extension tasks in our program over 11 weeks during the summer. Alfredo also conducted a research project evaluating olfactory responses by adults of the mirid predator Nesidiocoris tenuis to tomato and sesame. This was in conjunction with a field study employing N. tenuis for biological control in open field tomato production which he also assisted with. Victoria is on a 4 month internship from Earth University in Costa Rica and originally from Nigeria. She is being mentored by myself, graduate students and staff and has been assisting with rearing of Asian citrus psyllid, Diaphorina citri and its parasitoid, Tamarixia radiate. Under supervision of Ph.D. candidate Xulin Chen, Victoria has been conducting bioassays to evaluate D. citri nymphal mortality response to imidacloprid as part of a resistance management program to monitor key insecticides in commercial orchards.

Field day presentation and webinars were included in numbers above. Twitter (@corndisease) was used extensively to track corn diseases and get the information to stakeholders.
