64
au_tianahau_tianah(AU_TianaH): myab -- the journalism program is awesome! i'm majoring in broadcasting
65
EmilyDoglioEmilyDoglio:  I would also like to hear about the journalism programs!
66
MikestrackMikestrack: How often do walk-on students earn a spot on the team?
67
soc_megancsoc_meganc(SOC_MeganC):  @vtanner021 student life is awesome! i love being on campus. there is always so much to do
68
admissions_jenadmissions_jen(Admissions_Jen): The middle 50% range of this year's admitted class for GPA was a 3.6 - 4.15 (including both weighted and unweighted GPAs). The middle 50% SAT range was a 1230-1390 (out of 1600), and for ACT, a 27-31. Keep in mind there were many admitted students outside of these ranges as well.

GriffinDalmasoGriffinDalmaso: Is the application process long or short, relatively?
73
admissions_saraadmissions_sara(Admissions_Sara): @mr.chinedu We are NCAA Division I - in the Patriot League with lots of club and intramural teams too. lots of ways for students to be active or support our teams

79
admissions_jenadmissions_jen(Admissions_Jen): a recent stats grad at AU is now at Harvard doing his PhD!
80
alyssafloridaalyssaflorida:  Are any of you majoring in international relations? If so, what are some career opportunities available with a major of that sort?
81
au_heatherdau_heatherd(AU_HeatherD): I know my freshman roommate tried out and made the soccer team in the fall
82
FelizceFelizce: that sounds great thanks :)
83
Sydney.BSydney.B: (I think this may have been missed)  I read that AU is also a great place to study Criminology- can you tell me a bit about that program?
84
au_tianahau_tianah(AU_TianaH): mikestrack -- if you wanted to get more information about walking on for soccer or even potentially getting recruited, you would have to contact the athletics department and speak with one of soccer's assistant coaches. Here's the number for athletics: 202-885-3000. that should help :)
85
lissyd73lissyd73: does au have some sort of music production/technology program?
86
admissions_emilyadmissions_emily(Admissions_Emily): @griffin,can you elaborate on what you mean by is the application process long or short?
87
au_samanthasau_samanthas(AU_SamanthaS): Lissy, we do!
88
admissions_emilyadmissions_emily(Admissions_Emily): we don't have rolling admissions, if that is what you mean. so if you apply regular decision, you will hear in mid-to-late march
89
admissions_jenadmissions_jen(Admissions_Jen): griffin --- application process is fairly straightforward... we use the common app so that saves you lots of time, we require your transcripts and testing (unless you do test-optional), and a supplement which basically asks "why AU"
90
mstroummstroum:  hows au's premed program
91
admissions_jenadmissions_jen(Admissions_Jen): There are additional staff and students chatting in Rooms 2 and 3, which may be less crowded. Visit other rooms by clicking on the "Add More Chatrooms" button above the chat window.
92
emily2013emily2013: is this a good place to study communications?
93
admissions_emilyadmissions_emily(Admissions_Emily): if you apply Early Decision I, you would hear from us by the end of dec
94
au_heatherdau_heatherd(AU_HeatherD): I'm a major in SIS, and D.C. has so many opportunities, from embassies and think tanks focusing on anything from peace and conflict resolution to foreign policy, tons of government agencies, also regional studies
95
admissions_emilyadmissions_emily(Admissions_Emily): and if you apply EDII, you would hear from us in mid-February
96
au_kaylahau_kaylah(AU_KaylaH): AU does have audio technology and audio production and we have a brand new recording studio!
97
lissyd73lissyd73: how do you get into that program? is there an audition or something? or is okay for the student to not know too much about music production?
98
hselinhselin: How is the Art program?
99
au_heatherdau_heatherd(AU_HeatherD): It's such a diverse major and you can really take it any direction
100
au_jennalau_jennal(AU_JennaL): emily: my one roommate studies broadcast journalism and my two other roommates study public comm so I know lots of people who study communication. Do you have any specific questions about it?
