This emissions calculation tool contains information collection for calculating GHG emissions, setting goals, and reducing
emissions for Samsung Electronics' suppliers.
It is for greenhouse gas (GHG) management of Samsung Electronics' suppliers,
and unauthorized disclosure, distribution, copying, or use of all or part of the information contained in this form is strictly
prohibited.

□ Background and Purpose
13
14
15
The international community has declared 'carbon neutrality' as a comprehensive policy direction and is actively promoting GHG reduction policies. Accordingly, major domestic and foreign companies are also declaring carbon neutrality and materializing implementation plans.
It is necessary to establish an active GHG reduction strategy in order to respond to changes in the international competitive structure and maintain company's competitiveness in the era of carbon neutrality.
Samsung Electronics recognizes the importance of carbon neutrality for its supply chain as one of the implementation measures to achieve carbon neutrality, and conducts surveys on GHG emissions and reduction goals for its suppliers.

This form was created to collect and analyze information on carbon emissions and reduction goals of Samsung Electronics' suppliers. It supports companies that have difficulty calculating GHG emissions on their own, and discloses climate change information by setting reduction goals and describing implementation plans. It is structured so that it can be used as part of a strategy to respond to the demand for climate change information disclosure.

Based on the collected data, Samsung Electronics plans to set mid- to long-term goals for other indirect emissions (Scope 3) in the future, systematically support suppliers in setting and implementing GHG reduction goals, and continuously discover various reduction tasks.

□ Explanation of key terms
19
20
21
Scope1Emissions from direct combustion of fuels from emission sources owned or controlled by the business operator
Ex) Stationary combustion emission source, mobile combustion emission source, process emission source, fugitive emission source
22
Scope2Emissions arising as a result of the operator's activities, but from sources owned or controlled by other entities
Ex) Purchased power, purchased steam
23
Scope3Other indirect emission sources other than indirect emission sources in Scope 2, which occur outside the boundaries of the business site (organizational boundaries)
24
Stationary CombustionCombustion of fuel or waste, such as steam (heat) and power generation from combustion facilities, heating, waste incineration, etc.
Ex) Thermal power generation facility (hydroelectric turbine, steam turbine, gas turbine, etc.), combined heat and power(CHP), internal combustion engine for power generation (internal combustion engine power generation, gas turbine power generation, etc.), general boiler facility, process combustion facility (drying facility, heating facility, etc.) ) Etc
25
Mobile CombustionCombustion in vehicles owned and controlled by the company (cars, trains, ships, aircraft, etc.)
Ex) Aircraft, automobiles (passenger cars, vans, cargo, etc.), two-wheeled vehicles (motorcycles), railroad vehicles (high-speed vehicles, electric locomotives, diesel locomotives, etc.), ships (passenger ships, cargo ships, fishing boats, etc.), etc.
26
Activity DataQuantitative values necessary for calculating GHG emissions, such as the amount of energy and raw materials used, and the amount of products and services produced and provided
27
Emission CoefficientA coefficient representing the amount of GHG emissions per unit activity data of the emission facility
28
GWPValues calculated in terms of the contribution of CO₂ to global warming by each GHG based on the standard (1)
29
CO₂eThe amount of GHG emissions converted into carbon dioxide, the representative GHG
30
Net-ZeroCarbon neutrality. A state in which net emissions become “zero” by making GHG emissions and absorptions the same
31
Base YearA specific year used when setting GHG reduction goals
32
Target YearDivided into the final goal to achieve carbon neutrality and the intermediate goal, which is a point in the reduction path
33
InitiativeAutonomous norms in the form of codes of conduct or guidelines for global companies belonging to each industry
34
Emissions Trading SystemA system that allocates emission permits on a yearly basis, induces emission activities within that range, and permits trade between businesses for surplus or shortfall
35
Target Management SystemA system in which the government sets and manages GHG reduction goals and energy saving targets for managed companies
