Dawn JordanShe/her2064074819Dmjseattle@gmail.comIndigenous and BlackI’m a social worker with experience in direct service, permanent housing and homeless shelters. I am familiar with navigating racists systems and focus on harm reduction and restorative justice. My experience has been working with the most vulnerable individuals in the community; elderly, disabled, mentally ill, those in addiction, Black folks and NBPOC, LBGTQIA folks. My belief is that actively listening to someone who is used to being silenced is the first step in aiding them. I do not rely on racists systems to help these folks and know that these endanger their well being. I worked establishing local bail funds for Black and NBPOC. I am active in my local Indigenous community and regularly volunteer/support United Indians of All Tribes. I recognize my responsibility to address antiblackness in my Indigenous community and hold them accountable while also recognizing that active decolonization in our communities is the most powerful way to accomplish that.

This work is important to me because both my peoples survived genocides at the hands of colonizers and this trauma continues to impact Black and Indigenous folks and now more than ever those on the frontlines need support and care. I am dedicated to caring and being a voice for our most marginalized and vulnerable community members.

I do not work with with any activists or experience on the front lines, besides being a body. I was tear gassed but that only has made me realize we can't stop here. We won a small battle, but what can I do now to help? I don't want to appear to be treating this movement as a party.

My younger sister overdosed and the police were the first to show up and Narcan her, saving her life. The police rubbed it in her face when they showed up at my Mother's house 2 days later, responding to my sister having a mental health care crisis. I had to be the mediator between the police and my sister holding a knife. I told her, "drop it or you know they will shoot you" and kept my body in between until I got close enough to take it from her.

My own brother was beat by the police many times because his skin gets much darker than mine in the summer. My brother passed away from an overdose in 2015, right after being released from Prison, where he spent half his life. He needed help with his addiction and mental health services, but no, the police just lock you up, deny you your medication, and you never get the treatment you seek.

I could tell you many more personal stories - but the reason I want to help is because I want change. I want to help on the ground as much as I can to free up time for other leaders to do more important work than I am capable of.

Dana Kahnshe/her or they/themdanakahnpsychotherapy@gmail.com2068525074danakahnpsychotherapy@gmail.comwhite, queer, culturally JewishThrough my life and work experience, I learned to view my work through the lens of anti-oppression: I acknowledge the impact that systemic, cultural, and societal expectations have on our daily existence and sense of self. We all carry with us a unique set of intersecting identities, which, taken together, influence our life experiences and shape our worldview. I believe that the foundation of mental health exists in the exploration of these identities and the radical acceptance of our whole selves.

Because each person is unique, I draw on a variety of evidence-based and practice-based theoretical orientations and styles tailored to your specific treatment goals and needs. I believe that effective therapy is a collaborative process between clinician and client, and above all else, I strive to offer a safe space in which to explore your personal barriers to positive growth, and provide non-judgmental guidance and compassionate challenging of the patterns and behaviors that stand in your way.

I have spent the past 20 years working at the intersections of healing and justice as an organizer, educator, and politicized healer - with both young people and adults. I am a lead teacher with generative somatics, where we partner with movement leaders throughout the country to integrate embodied trauma healing and leadership development into their work. Locally, I provide training, coaching, and facilitation in the areas of conflict transformation, trauma healing, social justice, youth power, and embodied leadership. I have worked extensively in the fields of intimate partner violence, white anti-racism, LGBTQ liberation, transformative/restorative justice, and community organizing.

I identify as white.
I practice collaborative psychotherapy from a systemic perspective by:
Examining:
Examining your thoughts and beliefs, how they are supporting or impairing your life goals, and how they are affecting your emotions, actions, and relationships.
Learning:
Learning about you by through your significant relationships, past experiences and current crises. And learning what your understanding is of your role(s) within your relationships, experiences, and within yourself.
Understanding:
Understanding that you do not exist in isolation. Your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors were created in relation to other people and continue to manifest in relation to other people.
Identifying your strengths:
I view your problems within the context of your unique set of relationships and life experiences. You may be stuck in repetitive patterns that do not utilize your personal strengths to your fullest potential. My approach involves identifying your strengths and proposing a treatment plan that utilizes them. My approach, in general, is to provide a safe, comfortable and supportive environment for every person to learn and grow within themselves, their relationships, and their experiences.

Flexibility
My approach to therapy is integrative, meaning I use several different professional theories of thought. I do not adhere to just one theory of treatment as each person has unique situations, thoughts, feelings, and/or behaviors. My approach allows for flexibility in using the proven theoretical elements that best fit each particular person, couple, or family

As a Unitarian Universalist minister I work with my faith community in supporting activists directly and systemically in changemaking. We are engaged in climate justice, the Poor Peoples Campaign, BLM, and other causes. I responded to the call of indigenous activists at Standing Rock in providing spiritual care for front line protesters and have engaged in the healing circle process for incarcerated youth. As a chaplain at trauma centers I continuously engage patients and families who experience violence and death. I am called by the holy spirit of life and love to work in transforming brokenness, knowing that if it not transformed, it will be transmitted. My own POC identity and my Mexican ancestors call me to heal the harms of white supremacy and dismantle its systems, replacing them with systems of connection and wisdom.

My clinical focus has been the international refugee population but I also have experience with individuals involved in the criminal legal system, experiencing homelessness and living with severe and persistent mental illness. I have some but more limited experience with adults with developmental disabilities and youth in foster care. In my personal journey I recognized that while therapy is a wonderful tool it often did not meet the needs of many - particularly the refugee population that I have most experience with. With this awareness, I have expanded my scope to include more traditional healing practices including energy healing, shamanic healing practices and somatic experiencing.

Since leaving that job and moving to Seattle, I have continued to counsel that team and other other social workers, activists and healers who are struggling with burnout due to personal, vicarious or secondary trauma or the challenges that are associated with working in under resourced overburdened systems. I've been the pastor of an activist, multi-ethnic, queer-affirming church for 10 years. Lots of caregiving to lots of activists, of a variety of religious identities (including atheist and agnostic). I've been an activist and grassroots organizer for 10 years, with a particular focus in racial justice, economic justice, and police accountability. I helped found the Interfaith Economic Justice Coalition, a faith-and-labor coalition that mobilized clergy and congregations to practice direct action in solidarity with workers, particularly BIPOC and immigrant workers. My work is rooted in anticapitalist, antiracist, liberation theology and spirituality.

Along with a Unitarian minister and a rabbi, I've been organizing the "Protest Chaplain" table a the CHAZ/CHOP. I was part of the protest when the stand-off was still happening, and it seemed like clergy presence would be useful to deescalate the police. Now that we've seen this DACS effort coming into being, we plan on ceasing the chaplaincy station and directing people toward this work instead.

I think the CHAZ is a very important event and hope that it serves as a model for other cities to adopt a police-free system. In the interest of making this work, I want to support activists in working together effectively and coping with the unprecedented difficulties that these efforts will bring. I also would like to provide support in helping respond to suicidal crises without coercive measures, if that’s needed. Preventing suicide for high-risk individuals is a particular area of expertise for me, and it is one area that, if not addressed effectively, could undermine this movement. In addition, I’m interested in providing skills training in emotion regulation, crisis survival, and interpersonal effectiveness, which I think could help the movement. (Also, I’m confused about one of the prompts earlier, wasn’t sure what it was asking.)

Obviously, suicidal crises sometimes need an immediate response, so some sort of “on-call” arrangement might be needed, and I might be open to that. It just depends on what’s needed.
Clearly I’m offering to fill a niche with my more specialized area of training. If this doesn’t seem immediately relevant, I’ll be happy to help in the future if starts looking like a DBT therapist is needed.

I don’t have any background in social movement healing work. The reason I am interested in doing this work is because right now my greatest asset to this movement is the healing work I do. Not my voice, not my ideas. Through the six years I’ve been in practice I’ve seen the short and long term effects of people giving their all and not receiving healing in return. This movement is of primary importance in the world and in this city right now and this movement is a marathon. I am interested in helping because I care about the longevity of this movement and the people who are leading it and this is a way I can help those people keep up their stamina and keep this movement going

I am a licensed Naturopathic and Chinese medicine doctor, and my passion is really at the intersection of psychoemotional and physical health: how the body influences the mind, and the how the mind influences the body. I primarily use a Chinese medicine model of understanding human health and experience, but I incorporate elements of vitalism from the modern naturopathic vitalist movement. My approach to healing centers around narrative, helping people connect their disparate life experiences into a cohesive whole, which I believe is necessary for true evolution and transformation. In my practice I primarily focus on diet, lifestyle, herbal medicine, homeopathy, and acupuncture.
I have also spent a significant amount of time practicing mindfulness meditation, and bring that sense of presence and awareness to my life and interactions with others.

My experience is limited to large marches/protests and I do not have experience on the frontlines of these movements. I feel strongly that the systems we currently have in place are oppressive especially to BIPOC but also to non-whit-cis-het populations in general. I have been so inspired by the movement that is currently taking place and would love to support the folx who have been taking the lead. As a new healthcare provider, I am committed to continuing my education about racism within the healthcare system and racism as a public health issue so that I can implement anti-racist practices into the care I provide. I want to help with the work that is being done but also recognize that I am very new to this kind of work and see myself as a learner/support person. This work is physically and and mentally demanding and I would love to provide body work, primarily in the form of craniosacral therapy, as long as this can be done safely in light of Covid-19.

Some people have not been able to sleep because they don’t have their meds or have no safe quiet place to sleep. I have been in touch with Rebel Saints – the Buddhist nun denominational meditation community in Seattle which I have been involved with. As well as refuge recovery Dash Buddhist recovery groups that are Ron much like AA. I’m wondering if you have Calm is connected. How do people know how to find you? And would you be willing to coordinate with possibly other groups such as the Buddhist groups who could potential he set up a mindfulness zone with peer support and people doing group down regulation techniques.

My intention in contacting you is to help coordinate a more unified and responsive approach to getting people the support they need as well as to put the idea out that there could be an entire zone created for people who need support and that that zone could be staffed continuously and people directed there rather than medical tents. Currently Dan is live-streaming by the precinct. I’ve been in contact with Books. A couple people last night had run out of their meds and couldn’t sleep and were becoming hypo manic after not sleeping for three days. And they didn’t know where to go or what to do.

I personally don't have much experience with working in social movements per se. I've taken centering marginalized communities workshop and transliterate workshop. I believe it's important for all seeking bodywork to have access to those services. I primarily work with those who use their insurance benefits. Many that I see have chronic pain, experience anxiety, and depression. It's important to me that I create a safe space that honors and holds each individual no matter where they are at.
I could for sure commit to one 3-4 hour shift each month. It's possible I can go up Bi-weekly.

I’m a white trans queer person from a mixed religious background.
I recently moved to Seattle for a job as an interfaith hospital chaplain. Outside of hospital contexts, I blend my training as a chaplain with my experience as a sex educator and as an dancer to creatively meet the needs of those I work with. From my website: In May 2020 I graduated with a Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary (NYC), where I studied ritual, ecology, performance, and spiritual care in queer and trans communities. Raised in a secular household by a Jewish dad and a Greek Orthodox mom, I am currently religiously unaffiliated. I am passionate about offering spiritual care services to communities who aren’t typically able to access them, including but not limited to transgender youth and adults, lesbian, gay, bisexual, or queer youth and adults, people who have experienced religious or spiritual trauma, and people who are religiously unaffiliated and/or identify as secular, atheist, or agnostic.
I don’t have any particular accessibility needs.

Prior to attending seminary, I have years of experience organizing in a variety of social justice spaces, and especially in groups that use cooperative/consensus-based decision making, including Third Root Community Center (Brooklyn, NY), Divine House Tenants Associarion (Brooklyn, NY), Retail Wholesale Department Store Worker Union (I worked at Babeland while we unionized and won our first contract), and the Pride Center of the Capital Region (Albany, NY). As a hospital chaplain, we offer care not only to patients and their families, often in moments of crisis, but also hospital staff. I have no experience doing frontline movement healing care, but am excited to learn about how to translate my skill set to movement work.
I start my full time job in August at which point i will be able to spend less time per week (4hours). Until then I am able to give 20 hours a week.

I have participated in several/many protests in my life in NYC, DC and now Seattle, but never at the frontlines. I've been thinking more about public theology and how I can, as a Black woman clergy person, use my privilege to bring some healing to a fractured and broken world. Moreover, because the Christian church has done so much harm, past and present, both the protesters and the rest of the public need to see a Black woman clergy person present and supportive of this movement for sustained change and transformation.
