Independent Elementary School fosters the development of all students, encouraging them to grow into their unique and inspirational selves. Students transition to middle schools as emotionally literate, intellectually curious, academically capable, and socially conscious problem-solvers who have an appreciation and curiosity for difference and the skills necessary to achieve their goals.

|Providing teachers professional development in highly effective ELA instructional strategies such as reciprocal teaching (Lori Ozckus), Socratic Questioning (AVID), and Guided Reading. Providing teachers professional development in reteaching and differentiation strategies for mathematics. Providing teachers professional developement to support their learning of the Next Generation Science Standards. Creating consistent, frequent, and standards aligned (National Core Arts Standards) arts instruction, both explicit and integrated, in grades K-5.
