Extra duty stipends are awarded for significant work supervising student activities outside the contractual school day. Extra duty stipends are adjusted if the activity is scheduled, and takes place, during class time.

The extra duty stipend is computed by applying the percentage for the activity (indicated below) to the step on the B.A. column #1 of the basic salary schedule which is appropriate for the number of years experience in the district or transferred into the district. Education level does not apply to the extra duty schedule.

The appropriate step is determined by the following guidelines:

Credit is given for the number of years experience in teaching, not just coaching.

2.Experienced teachers, new to the district, will be given 100% credit for up to eight years of their total years of full-time teaching experience. Experienced teachers, new to the district, with more than eight years of experience, will be given 80% credit for their total years of full-time teaching experience. (Policy GCBA-R)

Initial placement, within these guidelines, is at the discretion of the administration.

The extra duty compensation does not apply beyond Step 25 in the B.A. column #1 of the salary schedule.

Extra duty agreements are computed only during the contract year. These figures will be computed from the current Salary Schedule and remain in effect for the contracted period. Only appropriate assignments in each school will be made.
