Every team turns in a list as above and lists made public.
11
A list is valid so long as the player was on your final roster in the previous season, the team salary is $10 or less, and all of the following rules are followed.
12
Each subsequent year, if a player was kept the previous season, that player's salary increases by $1 to a maximum value of $4.
13
Such players will remain in the same compensation round slot unless a slot above them opens up (these would be from players not kept in subsequent seasons).
14
Such players can only slide up one slot per season.
15
16
Example:2012 @wynams2013 @wynams
17
Dan Uggla ($4)
18
Jered Weaver ($3)Desmond Jennings ($3)
19
Desmond Jennings ($2)Joey Votto ($2)
20
Joey Votto ($1)Justin Upton ($1)
21
Justin Upton ($0)
22
Mark Teixeira (-$1)
23
Mark Teixeira (-$2)
24
25
Let's say I decide to not bring back Uggla and Weaver
26
Prior to slotting any new keepers, I modify my compensation round slots by sliding everyone I want to bring back up by 1 (even though I dropped the top 2 compensation slot players).
27
Then I could freely put anyone on my final 2012 roster into slots 1, 5 and 7.
28
29
That is how the submission process works, now on to the drafts.
30
At the beginning of draft season, there is a two round draft.
31
The first round draft order is last place previous season finish - first place.
32
If you have no player in your compensation round 6 slot, you may either pass or steal anyone who picks after you this round's player. If you pass, you will draft a free agent to fill this slot in the 6th round of the compensation draft.
33
Note: A player MAY occupy the compensation round 6 slot, yet have a salary of $0. This would arise from situations where if we raise the salary cap, that a GM kept all of his top 6 slot intact, and everyones salary increased by $1 (to a max of 4). In such an instance, the 6 slot salary would be $0 and this player would NOT be able to be stolen!
34
You must pass if you do have a player occupying your compensation round 6 slot.
35
The second round is the reverse order (snake) of the first round.
36
If you have no player in your compensation round 7 slot, you may either pass or steal anyone who picks after you this round's player. If you pass, you will draft a free agent to fill this slot in the 7th round of the compensation draft.
37
You must pass if you do have a player occupying your compensation round 7 slot.
38
After this draft, there is no more stealing of players.
39
Note: Players earning a salary of $0 or greater will not be able to be stolen regardless of slot
40
41
The second draft begins at the conclusion of the first draft.
42
The odd rounds have an order of last place previous season finish - first place. Even rounds reverse order of odd (snake).
43
If you have no player in that round's compensation slot, you must pick a free agent. Else, you must pass.
44
45
Here is a full run-thru of this system as it played out in 2012.
