This year I acquired my Pleasure Craft operator card and Restricted operator's certificate. I also completed the safety at sea one day course as well as Race C. officer course. I actively participated in the Polar bear and snowflakes series this winter on two different boats. I also participated in Les Voiles de Saint Barth last month on Katy Campbell (Sea to sky) Panacea X boat. I volunteered on RC boats for WVYC and VRC for their fall series this year. I love the conviviality and thrill of sailing either racing or cruising. I am very enthusiastic about sailing and keen to learn from all of you experienced sailors. Hello! I learned to sail as a teen on my uncles yacht which was a 26ft Ronautica and sailed relatively regularly in Class 1 races twice a week for a number of years. Since entering the work force I haven't had as much opportunity to sail, only getting out for sporadic spins when I am home. So I am a little bit out of practice but now that I live in Kits and am so close to the water, I'd love to have the opportunity to get back out sailing again and meet some new people.

I am looking for ways to both become more involved in the boating community, as well as to learn more skills related to boating. I grew up in Victoria on Esquimalt harbour, and though I don't have any specific formal boat certifications (other than a PCOC and ROC-M, as well as a current First Aid cert) I have spent a lot of time on boats, both as a commercial fishing deckhand, crewing on friends' sailboats for races and cruising, as well as sailing and racing dinghies and keel boats as a kid. I am 42 years old and have been sailing as a crew member since I was a child. Starting in 2008, I trained to become a skipper at the Glénans sailing school in Brittany, France.
I completed a 3-week course and then bought my first boat (Biloup 77, Wrighton shipyard) in 2010 to develop my skipper skills and learn how to maintain and repair my sailboat independently.
In 2014, I sailed for 10 days as a crew member in the Caribbean.
I bought a new boat in 2012 (RM880, Fora Marine shipyard) and learned to sail solo to welcome my wife and two children (born in 2016 and 2018) on board.
In 2020, I completed another week of advanced offshore sailing training.
I hold French licenses for coastal and offshore motorboats, as well as VHF.
Since then, I have been sailing year-round around Brittany and the English Channel, between England and France.
I am accustomed to large tidal ranges and strong currents.
I am looking for sailing trips to be on the water and discover the surroundings of Vancouver and the island.
