Welcome to the TABLE protein meaning maps template!

To use this to contribute your own protein meaning map, you first need to create a copy of this spreadsheet. You can either do this by downloading the spreadsheet (File > Download > Microsoft Excel .xlsx) or, if you have a Google account, by creating a copy in your own Google Drive (File > Make a copy). You can then fill in your copy with a spreadsheet package like Microsoft Excel or LibreOffice Calc, or with Google Sheets.

You can then edit your own copy. You will find the "nodes" and "edges" sheets, typically shown as tabs at the bottom of the display. These sheets are where you enter your own data. Each object in the map needs its own entry in the "nodes" sheet, with a numeric identifier ('id'), a name ('name'), a type ('node_type') and optionally any comments. Each link between two nodes needs an entry in the 'edges' sheet, with the ids and names of the two nodes it links, and its own 'edge_type'.

The two sheets come pre-filled with some example nodes and connections. These are mostly physical objects and phenomena in the world that have to do with food, food production and its consequences. If you were to just render this example spreadsheet, it would come out as in the graphic on the right. You can use these as a suggested starting point for your own diagram and add to them, or delete them and start from scratch.
