Spearheaded by Community Education Group (CEG), the Appalachia Opioid Remediation listserve is a space for stakeholders across all 13 states of Appalachia to share updates regarding the management and distribution of opioid settlement money. CEG’s goal is to ensure the millions of dollars of litigation money are spent on evidence-based interventions and supporting the organizations doing the groundwork to reduce harms associated with the syndemic of HIV, viral hepatitis, and opioid overdose. The 13 states of Appalachia include: AL, GA, KY, MD, MS, NY, NC, OH, PA, SC, TN, VA, WV.

This database is our effort to identify how local jurisdictions (Counties, Cities) in Appalachian states are choosing to spend their share of opioid settlement funds.
9
In some states, local jurisdictions receive funds directly. In others, they must request funds from a state-level authority. In many states, some money is given directly and some money is alloted by a state-level authority.
10
In some states, local jurisdictions receive the vast majority of funds. In other states, they receive only a small percentage.

Please note:
14
-- This is a living document, but the information contained is not comprehensive. We began trawling through meeting minutes and news reports in late 2022. We have occassionally found earlier mentions of opioid settlements, but have likely missed some.
15
-- We have prioritized states where we have more relationships and known networks of advocates who may be interested in using this information, but we hope to scale this to include all 13 Appalachian states.
16
-- We have prioritized Appalachian counties within each state, but we can add additional jurisdictions at your request. If a jurisdiction has been left blank, it means we haven't looked into it yet. Please let us know if you do and you find anything worth adding to the spreadsheet!
17
-- We plan to continue adding to this spreadsheet as we have the capacity and as it's useful to advocates across the region.

If you catch any errors, have information to add, or want to request we look into a certain jurisdiction, email Tricia at tchristensen@communityeducationgroup.org
