Miner's Path ? N10 ?Topsail (Topsail Beach Road)
Paradise / St. Thomas (Laurie Road)
3.92Please note: these paths and road walks are collectively referred to on the ECTA web site as "The Long Shore Trail". This is the only section of "path" that includes a significant amount of road walking - nearly 1/4 of its entire length in fact. This is an anomaly in logic for which I have no understanding or explanation.

Note 1
A large modern supermarket in St. John’s is 2.30 km from the Sugarloaf Southern Trailhead. If you do not want to walk (non-ECT) trails thru St. John’s, this store is en route.
78
Near the Sugarloaf Southern Trailhead, there is a non-ECT trail thru the Signal Hill National Historic Site (no permit required). This route however avoids perhaps the most convenient re-supply option for the thru hiker, Dominion Memorial Market.
79
Other amenities in St. John’s include hotels, coffee shops, restaurants, bars, an outfitter (en route), department / hardware stores (off route 5-6 km, or less than 4 km off the previous road walk - Cobbler / Sugarloaf)
80
Note 2
As of Summer 2018, the Cape Broyle Northern Trailhead is missing. After the turn-around, follow the dirt road to the rocky beach, then hike along the beach several metres until you see temporary markers on the right. The path climbs steeply up the hill. Check the video for more.
81
As a result of this oddity, the caculation for the following road walk includes: the distance to return to the trailhead + walk the exit path (Old Signal Hill Path) + walk the road to Sugarloaf Northern Trailhead.
82
Note 3
As of Summer 2018 the Northern Trailhead for La Manche Village Path is just South of Bauline East. The ECTA Map of 2002 has not been updated. The hiker still follows the same route.
83
Note 4
Elevation Gain has been recording using the GPS app on a Cell Phone. When data has been available from multiple hikes, an average has been used. Data is only applicable for "trail head to trail head" and for those hiking in the direction indicated. The numbers will not be totaled as, without Road Walk data, that total is meaningless.
84
85
Trailhead locations appear to currently be in transition (missing or moving) for:
86
-Cobbler Path (south)
87
-Cape Broyle Head Path (north)
88
-Sounding Hills Path (north)
89
90
91
92
Unofficial Paths
93
94
These are unsigned, unmarked, undeveloped, unhardened, partially cut, no path to be found, etc. etc..
95
- The southern paths are long, not at all travelled, not often given attention, remote and not easy to follow. There are sections of multiple kilometers of bushwhacking.
96
- Because there are no trailhead signs, the distances listed for paths / between paths are general estimations.
97
- GPS Data is available for these paths only. Follow the link in the path name for more information. Hikers should purchase ECTA maps from the association for all other paths. This purchase helps support the trail.
