7 | 5th - 6th | Globe Trotters | Calling all travelers! Come explore the world with us as we learn about places near and far. We will build friendships through indoor & outdoor adventures both at the middle school and on some walking excursions. 8 | 5th - 8th | Lifetime Activities | This summer school course will offer activities that students will be able to take with them and use throughout their life. Not only will this course promote physical health, it will also give students an opportunity to utilize and practice social skills through group partnership and interactions. The activities that will be incorporated in this course are: biking, rock climbing, outdoor invasion games/ handball/ speedball, tennis, ultimate Frisbee, ultimate football, kickball, weightlifting/cardio, Frisbee golf, baseball/softball, soccer, archery, and basketball. | 3+ HOURS | S. 10 | 5th - 8th | Rock It | Take care of yourself while doing something kind for others. We will start out by doing a physical activity or game each day to get some fun exercise. We will then focus on painting rocks in order to express our creativity. Plan on walking to area parks and downtown to hide the rocks we painted so other people can enjoy our artistic creations. Other days we will use sidewalk chalk to decorate the sidewalks for everyone to enjoy. All the while we will be focusing on positive energy and taking care of our body and mind. | 3+ HOURS | D. 11 | 5th - 8th | Theater Camp | Be a part of a creative adventure with theater camp! All participants will work on various skills to produce a show to be performed at the end of summer school. During camp, all kids will work together on creating props, costumes, and a set for the show that will be performed at the end of camp. If acting is not your thing, no worries! We will need help behind the scenes as well: stage manager, light board person and stage crew. Show day: Thursday, June 27 10:00 am (Summer school) & 6:30 pm (Public) Students need to be dropped off and picked up at MASH. There will not be transportation from MAMS to MASH. | 3+ HOURS | L. 12 | 5th - 9th | Dungeons & Dragons | D&D is a creative fantasy roleplaying game where players control a character and guide their fate in the adventure through various choices, gameplay mechanics, creative problem-solving, and collaborative skills. Each of these skills are built through the process of playing out a set adventure run by one facilitator (the DM/teacher) and altered by the choices made by the group of adventurers (the players). Groups of 4-6 players will be presented with a quest/goal, will be given supplies/ challenges unique to their positions in the game, and enemies/social encounters that will rise up in response to their choices throughout the game. This course will have high levels of input and collaboration from/with students and can be a very rewarding team building exercise. | 3+ HOURS | D. Donyes |
13 | 5th - 8th | Survival in the Woods | Get ready to survive! Each day you will travel to the Medford School Forest to learn a new survival skill: building a shelter, starting a fire, using a compass, purifying water, and more! 14 | 7 - 12th | Student Leadership at Forest Springs | June 5 - 6 7am - 7pm Forest Springs Transportation will be provided for students. Interested students should contact School Nurse Mindy Schwarz (MASH) or School Nurse Amanda Peterson (MAMS) for registration purposes.
