Would a Christian be inclined to live in deliberate, continual sin because he has received forgiveness of all his sins?Subtitle
3
No. A person who has received a new life wants to learn to know and become more like Christ. Such a person will certainly continue to battle against his fallen human nature for the rest of his earthly life. Still, the new birth specifically leads to a battle against sin and continual turning back towards Christ.
4
Anyone who continues to live in “carefree” unrepentant sin, yet claims to be ransomed by Christ, needs to seriously ask the question: have I truly been ransomed?
5
Rom. 6:15-16 ”What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness?” Bible passage
6
Is it possible to be saved another way than through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the Son of God?
7
No. This is the only path to salvation. What else would even be valuable enough to atone for our infinitely severe sins other than the infinite worth of the Son of God, who Himself is God?
8
Acts 4:12 “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”Bible passage
9
John 14:5-7 “Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”Bible passage

SOME COMMON MISCONCEPTIONSSubtitle
11
Can one pay off their debt of sin to God by doing good works or donating money?
12
No, it is not possible.
13
Attempting to pay off one’s sins would be like a man who deliberately vandalizes a king’s expensive car and, after feeling some regret, places a $10 bill under the windshield wipers and then feels pleased with himself.
14
Also, what good could you offer to God that you did not receive from Him in the first place? He does not need anything from you! God says:
15
Ps. 50:9-15 “I will not accept a bull from your house or goats from your folds. For every beast of the forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills. I know all the birds of the hills, and all that moves in the field is mine. If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world and its fullness are mine. Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats? Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving, and perform your vows to the Most High, and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”Bible passage

How good must you be to enter into heaven?Title
17
-or- what is God’s measuring stick like?subtitle
18
Many envision God’s way of measuring us like this:
19
Founders of orphanages and devout nuns
20
Most regular people
21
That gossiping woman next door, even God could not stand listening to her
22
Mass murderers and their ilk
23
HEAVEN
24
definitely to heaven
25
could go either way
26
definitely to hell
27
HELL
28
I’d say I’m somewhere around here.
29
I just need to donate some more money to the church and I should be fine.
30
We reason that as long as our conscience is not bothering us too much, our relationship with God must be decent.Inside
31
Honestly, I can’t even remember the last time I did anything truly bad.
32
All celebrities leaked their nude photos once again
33
And when our conscience occasionally does bother us, we can always point to worse people. Surely “average” is good enough for God, right?
34
Maybe I wasn’t the best person today, but at least I haven’t done that.
35
But that is not the case! According to the Bible, God’s requirement for everyone who enters into His presence is:
36
MORAL PERFECTION
37
This does not merely mean avoiding sinful acts, but every impure desire, thought and inclination is sin.
38
Jesus highlights the severity of God’s law in Matt. 5:22
39
“But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.”Bible passage
40
And in Matt. 5:48 “You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”Bible passage
41
How can You make a demand like this?
42
Indeed, why does God demand such a thing from us? Because God made us to be His image-bearers. And God Himself is wholly good, sinless and holy.
Our task is to love God, enjoy Him and perfectly reflect His nature by our deeds, words and thoughts.
43
this is the purpose of mankind
44
But because of our fallen nature, we do not do this. Instead, we’re like insolent rebels who wallow in waste and throw mud and rocks at our good king every time we see him.
45
Consequently, all of our sins are against God, which is why David addresses God in Psalm 51:3-4 this way:
46
“For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment.”Bible passage
47
So who deserves a place in heaven in the presence of our good God?
48
NOT A SINGLE ONE OF US
49
And nobody would escape God’s righteous judgement and wrath unless He had, in His overflowing mercy and love, sent His Son Jesus Christ to pay the debt of our sins.
50
The gospel of John describes the birth of Jesus like so:
51
John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”Bible passage
52
John 1:14 “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.”Bible passage
53
If you have been told that Jesus came into the world just to be some sort of role model or prophet, then you have received catastrophically incorrect information.
54
SO WHAT HAPPENED ON THE CROSS?Subtitle
55
Many know phrases like “Jesus was crucified for our sins and rose from the dead” but do not even think about what it means. It means that He, the one and only Son of God, voluntarily came to suffer the punishment that was deservedly due to us.
56
2. Cor. 5:21:For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.Bible passage
57
This is why Jesus is called “the Lamb of God”
58
Thus the debt of sin is paid in full for everyone who believes in Jesus, turns to Him and repents with a broken heart.
59
John 1:12 “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”Bible passage
60
This is God’s promise to all sinners who believe the gospel.
61
John 10:27-30, the words of Jesus:
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand.
I and the Father are one.”
