Hey everyone - we're back in Cambridge/Somerville again.

We spent Feb & March 2025 getting 15 quotes for a 3 story house with a finished attic in Somerville. It is a ducted system.

This is a design challenge. We picked a hard house to design for, to see which contractors actually are about ductwork.

This house is roughly ~2,000 sq ft total, including the finished basement.

This is an example of a house in the neighborhood that looks like the house we were working with:
3 things we focused on in particular:

1. Did the contractor do some sort of Manual J or a heat load calc?

2. Did the contractor think critically about whether the existing ductwork was good?

3. Did the contractor consider the existing mini-splits on the 1st floor?
