This spreadsheet is how participants will select the letters they transcribe. There are three tabs: Instructions (this page), Pro-Integration, and Anti-Integration. The Pro- and Anti-integration tabs divide letters based on their sentiment. To pick a letter:Some of the images and language that appear in the digital collections depict prejudices that are not condoned by the University of Mississippi. This content is being presented as historical documentation to aid in the understanding of both American history and the history of the University of Mississippi. The University Creed speaks to our current deeply held values, and the availability of this content should not be taken as an endorsement of previous attitudes or behavior.

1. Navigate to either the Pro- or Anti-Integration tab.If you are concerned about seeing this language and do not want to transcribe it, select a letter from the "Pro-Integration" tab or consult Abbie or Adam for guidance.

2. Choose an unclaimed letter from the list. Unclaimed letters have empty E and F columns.

3. Put your name in column E ("Transcriber Name") next to the letter you have chosen

4. Mark column F ("Status") with the appropriate status e.g., "Transcription in Process" or "Transciption Complete"

Please mark any letter you transcribe in order to prevent multiple people transcribing the same letter.
