The Department of Pediatrics at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University seeks a full-time Pediatrician to serve as the Program Director for the Pediatric Residency Program at the Hasbro Children’s Hospital. The physician will assume the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor, commensurate with their level of experience, along the clinician-educator track at Brown University.
This position targets an individual who will integrate with an active and passionate team which currently coordinates resident education in pediatrics. The applicant should have a strong background and interest in medical education and a passion for advancing education of pediatric trainees. The applicant must have outstanding interpersonal skills and a clear ability to gain trust and inspire excellence in the trainees at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. The individual must have a strong interest in continuing and fostering the residency program’s outstanding national reputation through curriculum development, national level interaction with other program directors, and through individual mentorship of the trainees. The individual must have the desire and capacity for collegial and strong engagement of the faculty and strong community of medical educators.
Hasbro Children’s Hospital is a tertiary care program situated in Providence, RI. Currently there are 16 categorical pediatrics residents per year of the three-year training program. There are also 4 combined medicine-pediatrics residents in each year of the four-year program and 3 triple-board (combined pediatrics, psychiatry and child psychiatry) residents in each year of the five-year program. Additionally, trainees from several other specialty residencies and professional schools rotate though the hospital.
Minimum requirements include Board Certification in Pediatrics and BC/BE in general pediatrics or any subspecialty of pediatrics. Candidates must qualify for medical licensure in Rhode Island and a fulltime faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor along the Clinical-Educator Track at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Successful candidates must possess a commitment to the academic and personal growth of the residents, to clinical excellence, to outstanding medical education and to multidisciplinary group practice.

This position may be full-time or part-time. Nocturnist clinical responsibilities include working with resident team providing assessment and management of new inpatient admissions and supervise overnight coverage of patients on the hospital medicine team at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin (no PICU, NICU/newborn or ED coverage). Full-time academic nocturnists average eight 15-hour shifts per month. Clinical responsibilities in Racine location include 24-hour shift coverage of inpatients and consultative services for emergency department patients, with neonatology coverage provided on site. Flexible scheduling options are offered. Candidates should be board certified or eligible in pediatrics and interested in an academic appointment; however, clinical-only positions will be considered. Candidates with inpatient pediatric experience in an academic setting are preferred. A competitive compensation package and academic appointment will be offered.

Our section is comprised of an energetic group of 30 physicians with a strong commitment to clinical excellence, academic productivity, and medical education. In addition to providing clinical care, our team is engaged in a variety of educational, research, advocacy, safety and quality improvement projects. Our section is actively involved in training of medical students and residents in pediatrics, medicine/ pediatrics, emergency medicine and family medicine. Areas of academic interest include bronchiolitis, transitions of care, medical education, medication safety and quality improvement. Our program provides ample opportunity for growth and academic collaboration. Care is provided at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, a 306-bed pediatric hospital, with a large referral network.
