23 | Heavy Armbnd. | This is an artifact acquisition route designed to obtain as many artifacts as possible without relying on random chance and without needing to waste time killing every enemy / gathering every item / nor completing the bonus point objective. Normally you would try to score as highly as possible in order to get better artifact rewards but the game will only sometimes give you those artifacts even if you scored perfectly. If you were to purposly score poorly you would be able to select an artifact from that cycles lowest reward set with 100% certainty. Since many of the artifacts found within the random chance high score rewards are also found in the guaranteed low score rewards it makes sense to prioritize the guaranteed artifacts. The guaranteed reward sets per cycle: Cycle 1 Set 1 Cycle 2 Set 3 Cycle 3 Set 5 Many of the artifacts found within the guaranteed sets overlap meaning that it's possible to farm too many and then be met with a reward screen that only has artifacts you already obtained from a dungeon you farmed earlier. To avoid this each artifact is listed in this route only once. Other locations for an artifact can be found in the notes on the left. There are only 12 end game artifacts that require you to score well and get lucky with the random rewards screen but these can also be found in chests within the hard mode dungeons. For everything else there's route 135.

There is only 1 reward set for hard mode dungeons so your point score doesn't matter with the exception of Rainy Ruins and Goblin Festival. 1 | Props to Discord user Manaclaw#0747 for posting some translated data about character differences from the FFCC Wolrd Ultimania. Lots of things can be found in this link that I didn't find within my own testing. Like races applying debufs with different durations.
2 | More Information about the Ultimania guide can be found in this post from gamefaqs user Thorf.
3 | THE DAMAGE FORMULA: | max(1, trunc((STR or MAG / 5) + (POWER from focus attacks or spells / 5)) - max(enemyDEF, round(2/3 x enemyDEF x STAT modifier)) ) + accessory damage + status damage
4 | Stat modifiers are found on page 122 of the official Nintendo players guide.
5 | Damage the player takes is reduced by half a heart for every 5 DEF rounded down.
6 | Sometimes it looks like you got hit but didn't lose health, this is because you regenerated health the exact moment you took damage. Minimum damage is always half a heart.
7 | This is true for each of the three components of an ara level spell. The minimum damage is half a heart per component.
8 | Attacks against high DEF enemies that hit harder will work better than attacks that hit more frequently since a smaller percentage of the damage will end up being reduced due to enemy DEF being a flat reduction instead of a percentage.
9 | In single player this becomes less noticeable as the game goes on since the difference between the damage reduced and the damage that goes through only gets larger as the player gets stronger.
10 | The more players in a multiplayer setting the more important stats and status become as it gets very difficult to deal more than 1 point of damage.
11 | This makes items that increase damage dealt more important than ones that increase attacking speed. A significant leg up for Yukes and Lilties.
12 | ||||||||||||||||||
13 | Enemy Damage Reduction Calculator | Base DEF | Fire Damage | ARA Fire Dam | Status Effects: | Fire status adds 1 to 3 damage per hit depending on the enemies base DEF.
14 | Enemy Defense: | 2 | Cycle 1 | Cycle 2 | Cycle 3 | 2 | 1 | 3 | Frozen enemies get hit twice by the next STR attack made against them.
15 | Solo | 2 | 2 | 3 | 3 | 2 | 6 | Thunder does not effect damage in any way. Which is just stunning.

19 | ||||||||||||||||||
20 | * | Some interesting scenarious can play out invloving which spell to cast against enemies based on their damage reduction. tier 1 magic (FBT) has a power rating of 30 which is worth an extra 6 points of damage Tier 2 magic (ARA) has 3 components that each have 15 power which is worth 3 damage x 3. Tier 3 magic (AGA) has 60 power which is worth 12 damage.
21 | This could be viewed as 6, 9, and 12 but there is an imporant distinction to be made about ARA magic. It hits 3 times and thus both the players MAG score is added thrice and the enemies damage reduction is subtracted thrice.
22 | Against low damage reduction enemies this means that ara spells scale three times harder than tier 1 or 3 magic and will quickly end up doing considerably more damage than any AGA spell can.
23 | This makes ARA magic very OP in single player due to enemies having much lower DR and the ability to cast different tiers of magic without needing to coordinate with another player.
24 | When the enemies have very high DR the extra power from aga may be needed to deal more than min damage.
25 | ||||||||||||||||||
26 | Spell Damage Calculator | In single player when attacking the toughest enemies 60 MAG is needed for ara spells to always be superior to aga.
27 | Enemy Damage Reduction: | 3 | FBTH: | 38 | In 4 player multi 100 MAG is needed for ara to always beat aga. Yukes can achieve 120 MAG with their Elemental's Soul accessory.
28 | Players MAG: | 179 | ARA: | 105 | AGA spells will only ever do 6 points more damage than FBT but also take much longer to cast. in most cases becoming a decision between lower AOE DPS vs higher single target DPS.
29 | ARA +1 | 140 | ||||||||||||||||
30 | ARA +2 | 175 | ||||||||||||||||
31 | AGA: | 44 | Remaster: Yukes can now achieve an effective magic score of 180 with the wiseman's soul and buff food. With a WiseYukeNuke leading spells Holyra +1 should be devistating.

45 | Ultimate Cross Slash Tests: | Lilty strength 50 | Enemy: | DR | HP | Focus hits to kill | HP removed from focus attack damage | Focus damage per hit | Focus + melee | HP removed from focus attack damage | Super Cross Slash true damage value | I was hoping that the strength of the focus attack would be so amazing that it would make Lilties worth it. Sadly this is not the case. It's regular cross slash but with 5 more STR. That's it, that's all you get. You can use the +3 focus attack damage accessory to do the same amount of damage as a Clavat.
46 | Cycle 3 | Gigan Toad | 10 | 80 | 14 | 80 | 5.714285714 | 13 + 2 | 78 | 6

54 | Cycle 3 | Gigan Toad | 10 | 80 | 13 + 1 | 52 or 53 | 4
55 | ||||||||||||||||||
56 | Devil's Earing | 8 second stop. base 6 second. | 14 second slow, base 12 seconds. | 5 second freeze. Base 3 seconds | Conclusion: adds 2 seconds flat to any spell effect. Safe to assume the +30 version only adds 1 second. Considerably weaker than I would have hoped for. Will make it easier to chain multiple icestrikes with single hit focus attacks but isn't necessary to do so.
57 | Wisdom Talisman | Flat half second reduction on any spell. This confirms that the language the game is using for time is frames. Since the game runs at 30 frames a second an increase in 15 is half a second.
58 | Jade Bracer Headband of Healing | Base health regeneration of half a heart every 30 seconds. This adds half a heart every five seconds. Adding up to 3.5 hearts every 30 seconds. A 600% increase. Considerably stronger than I would have hoped for. Girl version is easier to get than the boy version. An excellent early game accessory.
59 | ||||||||||||||||||
60 | ||||||||||||||||||
61 | The scoring system: | 1 point per monster killed including the boss and its adds. 1 point per item picked (everything: coins, orbs and artifacts included). Dropping and picking up items does not work to create extra points. Killing monsters again after they respawn does work to earn extra points.
62 | Icestrike, flamestrike and thunderstrike are not considered focus attacks for the 'defeat enemies using focus attacks' bonus condition. They are considered spell fusion
63 | ||||||||||||||||||
64 | Race base spell cast time: | Clavat 1 second base. Half second with Windom Talisman.
65 | Yuke. Can cast gravity in just under a second. I suspect that they have a -5 racial cast time combining with the ring to reach the same half second cast as the clavat.
66 | Liltie. Extra half second to cast. +15 cast time. Brutal
67 | Selkie could possibly have +5 cast time(1/6th of a second) or neutral cast speed. it's very hard to tell without a multiplayer setup for comparison testing.
68 | ||||||||||||||||||
69 | Liltie +focus damage ring tests: | Against an ogre with a Liltie with 73 STR using Gungnir(cross slash)
70 | Icestrike: | with +3 ring: | 57 dam | Using +1 ring: | 51 dam | no ring: | 48 dam | conclusion: | Dragon's Heart damage is multiplied by frozen double damage effect resulting in a flat +9 damage boost to double hit combos. +27 to 5 hit combos.
71 | firestrike: | with +3 ring: | 39 dam | Using +1 ring: | 35 dam | no ring: | 33 dam | conclusion: | ring has no synergy with the damage bonus from enemies being on fire.
72 | In this example the ring only provided a 19% damage boost but since it's a flat increase the effect will be stronger with weaker weapons and against enemies with higher DEF values.
73 | Tested to see if damage bonus would allow multiple damage to be dealt to flyer that hasn't been gravitied. It does not. Even with the ring focus attacks will only deal 1 damage per hit.
74 | Tested against a gargoyle. Will only deal one damage when airborne.
75 | Grounded without ring: | 2 damage | Grounded with ring: | 8 damage | conclusion: | ring does increase the damage when grounded.
76 | Against a stone plant
77 | with +3 ring: | 8 dam | Using +1 ring: | 4 dam | no ring: | 2 dam | conclusion: | 300% damage inrease. Dragon's Heart makes stone enemies Liltie's specialty
78 | Calculating Max Bladestorm Dam: | Lilties are the only race capable of hitting the max base damage of 19 by reaching 95+ STR. Since bladestorm hits 5 times and each hit has a power of 15 we're at 22 DPH. Then we add the extra 3 from Dragon's Heart totaling 25 DPH. Subtracting the smallest DR in the game of 2 we're at 23 DPH. Lets assume the enemy is frozen at the beginning of the icestrike combo resulting in all 5 hits being doubled for 46 DPH. Against enemies with a DR of 2 a max damage icestrike bladestorm hits for 230 damage total. Against the toughest multiplayer mob with 18 DR the icestrike bladestorm combo hits for 70 damage.
79 | ||||||||||||||||||
80 | ||||||||||||||||||
81 | ||||||||||||||||||
82 | Yuke spell damage ring tests: | Testing against a stone flower. All magics do nothing except for gravity, which does half health with first cast and only 1 point of damage after that. The ring makes no difference.
83 | Yuke with 69 MAG | |||||||||||||||||
84 | Casting Blizzard against an Ochu: | with ring: | 19 dam | without ring: | 14 dam
85 | Casting Blizzara against an Ochu: | with ring: | 48 dam | without ring: | 33 dam | Since ara level spells hit three times the +5 damage ring triple dips!
86 | Casting Blizzara against an Ochu that is on fire: | with ring: | 54 dam | without ring: | 39 dam | fire usually grants a flat +2 damage from any source, ara level spells triple dip on this as well for an extra 6 damage.
87 | Casting Blizzaga against an Ochu: | with ring: | 25 dam | without ring: | 20 dam | aga level spells are for aoe, not for single target dps. Aga spells do not triple dip.
88 | Casting Fira against an Ochu: | with ring: | 48 dam | without ring: | 33 dam
89 | Casting Fira against an Ochu that is on fire: | with ring: | 54 dam | without ring: | 39 dam | Ochu has 0 fire res and 2 blizzard res. Elemental resistance does not effect the amount of damage done with spells.
90 | Testing on an ogre to see if casting on a frozen target would increase spell damage. It does not. Frozen targets only take double damage if they are hit with melee.
91 | Testing on the same ogre to see if the bonus from the monster being on fire is consistant. It is not. Sometimes you only get +3 damage, othertimes +6. It may have something to do with fire elemental resistance. Ochu have 0 and an Ogre has 1.
92 | Notes on calculating Ara damage: | Ochu cycle 3 has 5 damage reduction. This reduction is applied to all three components of the ara spell. Having 69 MAG means we have 13 spell damage. Each component has 15 power which is 3 extra damage.
93 | 13+3-5 is 11. Each component of the spell hits for 11 damage totalling 33. This means that enemy DEF is applied to ara magic three times and that for each 5 MAG you acquire will increase your ara damage by 3.
94 | ||||||||||||||||||
95 | ||||||||||||||||||
96 | Focus attack testing: | Name | charge time | stun? | in game description | Personal Notes
97 | Psi Blast | 0.75 | Stun | Fast charging but the animation roots you in place and it needs to be aimed because tiny hitbox. If you fire it point blank you'll never hit anything.
98 | Avalanche | 1 | Interrupt | Drive spear into earth to unleash shock waves. | The only move type focus that doesn't have stun. Not a fan of this one.
99 | Cyclone Slash | 1 | Interrupt | A lunging attack with a spinning spear. | Like Cross Slash but worse.
100 | Pulse Thrust | 1 | Stun | Focus your energy and lunge at the enemy. | stuns, can hit multiple targets if aimed correctly. It's a freakin laser beam. The down side is that it only hits once and it roots you in place. Against a single target the Clavat soulshot is better. Further testing reveals you can hit twice if the enemy is close enough.
101 | Cross Slash | 1 | Interrupt | A lunging slash through the enemy. | Lilties bread and butter until Bladestorm. Combine with blizzard for maximum effect. Shame it has no stun and often knocks enemies too far away for the second hit to land.
102 | Bladestorm | 1.25 | stun | A wrathful piercing assault. | With Dragon's Heart this weapon can kill any stone enemy in a single combo (single player). Has stun but all 5 hits take a while to come out and you'll get interrupted if anything hits you during the animation. Amazing synergy with Dragon's Heart and Icestrike. Unlike the other race hidden weapons this doesn't cost half a heart to use.
103 | Image of Yuke focus atttacks: | Power bomb | 1 | Stun | A gush of magic shock waves. | It's fast and hits in an aoe with normal stun. Most useful against bosses since it charges faster than other options.
104 | https://i.imgur.com/IIsQdDz.png | Wave bomb | 1.25 | Interrupt | A bash that sends enemies flying. | Hot garbage. It's like power bomb but takes longer and doesn't stun.
105 | Shock bomb | 1.25 | Hard Stun | An incapacitating shock wave. | Amazing. The extra channel time is just barely more than average and the payoff it worth it. sizeable aoe that can stunlock entire groups of enemies
106 | Magic bomb | 2 5 7 | Stun | An attack of terrible magic force. | Meme.
107 | Power Slash | 1 | Stun | A powerful downward strike | Faster recovery than Bash but only deals one hit.
108 | Piercing Sweeps | Quick, cannot be interrupted but doesn't stun while being the weakest focus attack in the game. Use it to jump over enemies in your path that you don't want to fight.
109 | Bash | 1 | Stun | Bash with your shield and follow up with a slash | Unlike the Liltie cross slash this has stun but is interruptable, cannot leap over enemies and takes longer to execute. Second hit has a decent hitbox. First does not. The Clavat default icestriker.
110 | Soulshot | 1 | Unleashes a blast of energy | Roots you in place for less time than the selkie options while dealing more damage and having the best hitbox of any projectile. Clavat Hamon.
111 | Shadowblade | 1.25 | Strike down enemies with three swift blows | A move type with terrible range, recovery frames, hitbox and takes half a heart each use but also strong enough to one shot most of the enemies in the game that can be frozen with icestrike.
112 | Aura Blast | Like Dual Blast but worse.
113 | Dual Blast | 1 | Unleashes a flurry of spionic blasts. | The only ranged focus that can benefit from icestrike with a single attack. Roots you in place.
114 | Stampede | 0.75 | stun | A powerful strike | Like Power Kick but worse.
115 | Power Kick | 1 | A strike and a kick. | Forward facing hit. Need to aim before the enemy rather than ontop of it. can be interrupted.
116 | Meteor Blast | What selkies build for. Takes half a heart and does the same amount of damage as a clavat soulshot but in a small aoe instead. With the speed boost from the Thieves' Emblem you chew through your own healthbar like candy.
117 | Some conclusions: | Weapons with stun are good to be used in any way but weapons with only intercept need icestrike in order to shine. Against a boss it doesn't matter since they won't be stunned anyway so go with what charges the fastest.
118 | ||||||||||||||||||
119 | Elemental Resistance: | I suspect that elemental resistance has little to do with how much damage spell types deal and more to do with whether they can deal damage and the severity and vulnerability of elemental status effects. This is evident from the spell testing done earlier against an Ochu. Both fire and blizzard type spells did the same amount of damage to a monster with 0 fire res and 2 blizzard res. 0 means that even a tier 1 FBT can inflict status. 1 means it has to be a magic strike or a fusion spell to inflict status. 2 means status immunity but can still take damage. 3 means immune to both status and damage. Know that flyer/ghost and stone types bypass this system. flyer and ghost types are immune to many status effects until they are made vulnerable with a gravity or holy spell. Stone types are always immune to all magic except for gravity which functions normally on them. Half health with first cast and 1 damage with each cast after that. Holy does nothing even though the guide says that have 0 resistance to it. Damage you deal to an enemy with spells is a factor of their DEF stat and not their elemental resistance ratings. The only exception to this rule is gravity. It's not that the Dragon Zombie is super weak to holy but rather that it has very low DEF stat. It's actually better to reveal it with holy and then switch to fira. It is known that gravity cuts enemies health in half with 0 resistance. It removes 1/4 health at 1 resistance and only removes 1/10 health at 2 resistance. It does this just once, repeat casts only deal 1 damage. 3 means immune to gravity. The Lich really does lose half his health if you cast gravity on him. Just use holy first. Resistance for slow and stop are either 0 or 3. It works or it doesn't. All enemies have 0 holy res but this doesn't mean anything. Holy is a low damage spell and the only status it inflicts is making ghost types vulnerable for 13 seconds. Don't make the mistake of thinking you should go through the game holying everything to death. What are you, a cleric or something? Due to the Remastered edition including a Ring of Holy my thoughts on this spell have changed. In single player it's pointless since you can just spam ara spells instead but holy has the largest hitbox of all the tier 1 spells and can now be spammed in multiplayer.
120 | Enemy | Base Def | modified Def | elemental res | damage
121 | fira | Gigan | 6 | 15 | 0 | 36 | ||||||||||||
122 | fira | Gigas | 4 | 10 | 0 | 45 | ||||||||||||

124 | Damage testing!: | Single player cycle 3 (enemy stats x2.5) on a Yuke with 99 STR
125 | Enemy | Base Def | modified Def | Melee Swing | Dam + DEF | 20 POW focus
126 | Goblin | 2 | 5 | 16 | 21 | 20 | Melee swing POW of 16?
127 | Goblin Chieftan | 3 | 7.5 | 14 | 21.5 | 18 | Simply adding the enemies DEF to the damage we dealt shows that DEF is not a flat damage reduction. There is more to it.
128 | Griffin | 4 | 10 | 12 | 22 | 16 | ||||||||||||
129 | Blazer Beetle | 5 | 12.5 | 11 | 23.5 | 15
130 | Lamia | 6 | 15 | 9 | 24 | 13 | Outside of the last dungeon in the game, base 6 DEF is the highest you encounter besides stone enemies with their ridiculous 16.
131 | I can't see what minimum damage dealt against base 6 DEF enemies is because I don't have a multiplayer setup.
132 | Chimera | 5 | 7.5 | 14 | 18 | How interesting, Mount Vellenge is either considered cycle 2 or the official guide stats are wrong. The only way these damage numbers make sense is if their DEF is x1.5
133 | Death Knight | 10 | 15 | 9 | 13 | How does a guy with 10 DEF take the same amount of damage as someone with 15? myth confirmed
134 | ||||||||||||||||||
135 | Single player cycle 3 one a yuke with 20 STR
136 | Enemy | Base Def | modified Def | Melee Swing | 20 POW focus
137 | Goblin | 2 | 5 | 1 | 5 | Interesting that even with 79 STR loss the damage difference between the melee swing and focus attack are constant. could it be that the focus attack just does melee damage +4 flat?
138 | ||||||||||||||||||
139 | Single player cycle 3 on a yuke with 85 STR | I have a hypothesis thas this "power" the guide has been refering to is actually a fudged number. It's the flat amount of damage added to your base damage multiplied by 5.
140 | Enemy | Base Def | modified Def | Melee Swing | 20 POW focus | 40 POW focus | 80 POW focus | 15 attack power is actually +3. 80 power is actually +16. A quick test with the Yuke will confirm this.
141 | Goblin | 2 | 5 | 14 | 18 | 22 | 30 | MYTH CONFIRMED! We now understand what power is! I have updated the weapons tab to reflect the bonus damage dealt with focus attacks.
142 | ||||||||||||||||||
143 | I did a damage test on a Yuke with only 20 STR against a Mount Vellenge Chimera to see if the damage bonus from focus attacks is a flat addition like the Lilties Dragon Heart or just additional STR.
144 | Enemy | Base Def | modified Def | Melee Swing | 20 POW focus | This tells me that the bonus damage from focus attacks isn't flat, but added to the games normal damage calculation before it is reduced by enemy defense
145 | Chimera | 5 | 7.5 | 1 | 3 | This means the POW of focus attacks is just STR that is added to your base STR. I assume the power of spells works the same way being added to your base MAG
146 | ||||||||||||||||||
147 | In order to find out how much damage you get for STR and how much damage we lose due to enemies DEF we must first figure out max possible damage and work backwards. I wish there was an enemy with 0 DEF but there isn't. The lowest possible is 2 in a cycle 1 dungeon. I'll start by attacking a 2 DEF monster with a 99 STR character (thanks AR codes!).
148 | Enemy | Base Def | modified Def | Melee Swing | Base Dam???? | % of damage dealt
149 | Ogre | 2 | 2 | 17 | 19 | 89 | The highest damage possible with a melee swing is 17. (before damage modifiers like fire/ice status)
150 | Seeing as the smallest DEF in the game is base 2, previous testing shows that the maximum melee swing damage possible in cycle 3 is 16.
151 | Based on the way power works I'm going to guess that you gain 1 damage for every 5 points of STR you acquire rounded down. Putting the max possible damage at 19.
152 | Enemy | Base Def | Modified Def | Melee Swing | Base Dam???? | % damage dealt | damage mitigated | 2/3rds of mDEF

159 | The only way to know the exact break points for gaining damage relative to STR would be to do a damage test after every 1 point STR gain. If it's every 5 points then having 23 STR and eating a meat/fish should result in doing 1 more damage.
160 | New game damage testing. Find where the break point is for damage increases. Starting with a yuke at 20-24 STR
161 | Enemy | Base Def | modified Def | Melee Swing | Just wanted to note that upon entering some dungeons for the very first time the enemies have their health scaled down lower than base. Goblins have 8 hp instead 12. Ogre has 38 hp instead of 48.

166 | Minimum DR testing: | I have been having enemies with low amounts of DR causing errors in my tests. I have a hypothesis as to why this could be.
167 | round(2 / 3 x enemy DEF x STAT modifier) | Is the current formula for damage reduction but I fear it may really be: | max(DEF, round(2 / 3 x enemy DEF x STAT modifier))
168 | meaning that DR can never be less than the monsters base DEF value.
169 | Yuke with 43 STR (8 dam) in cycle 1 Conall Curach:

176 | Player Defense Testing: | In order to properly detect the effectiveness of armor we have to find a very hard hitting attack.
177 | Players get up to 8 hearts. Each heart has 2 halves. That's 16 max hp.
178 | Lets start by cheating our defense up to 99 and seeing how hard it hits.
179 | ||||||||||||||||||
180 | Sahagin Lord cycle 3 of Conall Curach who has an effective STR and MAG of 17.5 (7x2.5)
181 | Characters DEF | Melee Swing | Blizzara Cast | DEF/5 Trunkated | Trunc+Melee
182 | 99 | 1 | 3 | 19 | 20 | Here I make a guess based on the way other stats work in the game that every point of 5 DEF the player has removes 1 point of incoming damage.
183 | 81 | 1 | 3 | 16 | 17 | I divide the base DEF value by 5 and then truncate the remainder (round down) then add that to the amount of damage the enemy did.
184 | 69 | 3 | 3 | 13 | 16 | If my guess is true then the rounded down defense stat plus the damage dealt should add up to the same value; the Sahagin Lord's true damage dealt before the players DEF reduced it.
185 | 49 | 7 | 12 | 9 | 16 | The number is thrown off in the 99 and 81 DEF examples because we're adding more DEF than is necessary to completely negate the attack. (minimum damage is always 1)
186 | 20 | 12 | 16+ (one shot) | 4 | 16 | This means that for every 5 DEF the player has, they take half a heart less damage from any source.
187 | ||||||||||||||||||
188 | Is there any advantage to having more DEF when you already take min damage? Fire, curse, and ice status cause you to take increased damage that extra DEF helps mitigate. So yes, situationally.
189 | ||||||||||||||||||
190 | How extremely aggravating. All this just to learn that base stats are inflated by 5. Probably to support the artifact hunting system.
191 | ||||||||||||||||||
192 | On Clavats and their armor | On the plus side I can finally make a decision about Clavats special equipment. Using the Chocobo Shield over an elemental shield is a gain of 8 DEF. Using the Gaia Armor over an elemental armor is a gain of 6 DEF. Combined that's 14 DEF which is just 1 point shy of negating an extra 1.5 hearts of incoming damage at the cost of losing status resitances. Compared to diamond armor the Clavats get 6 more DEF than other races which is only half a heart. I believe the max Clavat defense rating is 97 which means that Clavats can mitigate 1 more damage than other races but only against attacks that deal more than 18 damage which are extremely rare especially in single player. The small increase in defense would see more use in multiplayer but it's still only a heart and a half and only off really hard hitting attacks. I would much rather keep my status resistances. Sorry to all you Clavat mains out there.
193 | ||||||||||||||||||
194 | Status Testing | There is a lot of misinformation out there like enemies taking double damage from fire spells when frozen.
195 | Enemy | Base Def | modified Def | Fire | Fire while frozen | Fire while on fire | Ice while on fire | Enemies that are frozen do not take double damage from spells. Only melee.
196 | Ogre | 2 | 3 | 22 | 22 | 23 | 23 | |||||||||||
197 | ||||||||||||||||||
198 | Enemy | Base Def | modified Def | DR | Fire | Fire while on fire | Bonus Damage | The bonus from fire damage is relative to the enemies base DEF.
199 | Ogre | 2 | 3 | 2 | 22 | 23 | 1 | |||||||||||
200 | Goblin Chieftain | 3 | 7.5 | 5 | 20 | 22 | 2 | This was testing in single player cycle 3. Would like to test it in multiplayer to narrow down exactly how the game decides fire bonus damage.
201 | Sahagin | 4 | 10 | 7 | 18 | 20 | 2 | |||||||||||
202 | Behemoth | 5 | 12.5 | 8 | 17 | 19 | 2

205 | On status chance: | Doing some testing with a Lizardman(mace) in VeoLuSluice. This monster has 0 blizzard elemental resistance.
206 | I noticed that while using Blizzard and Blizzara there was always the chance the mob would not be frozen.
207 | The chance seemed to be higher with Blizzard than it was with Blizzara.
208 | When a resist happens the mob is staggered for a moment.
209 | When using icestrike the mob becomes frozen 100% of the time.
210 | Casting fire on a Gigan Toad (0 res) and thunder on an Ice Bomb (0 res) results in 100% chance of status. The resist only happens for blizzard.
211 | It seems as if monsters can make a saving throw against the frozen status effect allowing them to be staggered instead. The chance of a successful blizzard is less than a blizzara while icestrike has a 100% success rate. Blizzaga can be resisted too.
212 | I'm very uncertain on this one, I wish I knew exactly why it happens but all I have is my best guess. |

2 | Delete your outdated non status resistant armors but keep at least 1 spare weapon. You can add an unequipped weapon to your command list and fuse it with a fire/blizzard/thunder orb to change the properties of your focus attack. (Need to apply an elemental status but only have 1 orb and/or playing a Liltie? No Problem!) Single player only. Your main should always be an alchemist to get the Force Ring and Ultimate Weapon patterns. You should still make 3 alt characters as a merchant, tailor and blacksmith. Just make sure to set out as these characters and talk to each of their respective family members at the start of the first few years to increase their production level. If you need items from the local town merchant you can just buy it with the merchants child for a large discount and then use the storage system to tranfer the items to your main. It's possible to cast aga level spells with Mog. This only works if Mog has selected the same element as you. Myrrh trees regrow after collecting 4 drops of Myrhh elsewhere. If you do River Belle Path first thing on year one you will be able to do cycle 2 for your third drop in year 2. About food buffs. You only gain an increase in performance if your STR/MAG/DEF is divisible by 5. A food buff does not last an entire dungeon, it is lost between loading screens. For example you could walk into the area with the behomoths in CoCu and then walk back to create a check point save, then travel south and check for the ring of cure. If it isn't the ring, die, quit to menu and then reload your save and try again.
27 | On accessing the top left corner of Rebena Te Ra. You don't need to do this because there isn't anything unique found there and you don't need the points from killing/looting in order to reach a max score. However if you're still intent on doing so you could use the mog method mentioned on page 98 of the official guide or this method submitted by reddit user AlexstraszaIsMyWaifu: The one locked by 2 spell stones can be bypassed by using a lvl3 spell into a lvl 1 spell. By the time the lvl 3 spell ticks, you already started to cast the lvl 1 spell which means you have enough time to melee both stones. |

2 | Memorize the chest and 4 static artifact locations. Some specific enemies have item or artifact drops but most are useless. It looks like score may not matter because there is only 1 reward set per dungeon with the possible exception of Rainy Ruins and The Goblin Festival. Needs further testing | Do yourself a huge favour and farm the Fire/Blizzard/Thunder +2 resistance sets from Falling Leaves Path, Toadstool Forest and Oblivion Village before doing any other hard mode dungeons. Get a piece of petrification gear from Afternoon fort before doing Miasma Cave. (Poison RR also helps) Get curse gear from Dinner Party and stop gear from Frozen Sluice before doing Rainy Ruins. Wear both poison and curse gear for The Goblin Festival. Swap poison out for petri on the boss fight. | Most hard mode recipes can be crafted by any race. The images show Yuke equipment because I was playing a Yuke when I took them. Those scrolls will make items that your race can use with the same stats. Unless noted otherwise. | The time gating for hard mode dungeons is only for multiplayer games. You may enter any hard mode dungeon at any time in single player after having defeated the boss of Mount Vellenge.
