General Info:

World Curling Federation Mixed Doubles rules will be followed

All broom heads must be approved WCF broom heads

There is no uniform requirement for this event.

You must register your team on curlingzone in advance of the event - see instructions below

Pre-game practice will begin 10min prior to the scheduled start time of your game.

When using a powerplay, please attach a colored “star” sticky note to the end hanger in which the powerplay was played.

Pre-Event Practice:

There will be practice time available on Thursday Dec 12th starting in the morning. Signups for these timeslots will be opened on Dec 1st at 8pm EST.

Teams will each start on a pre-assigned sheet + one out and then will shift to the right from sheet Out to A to B to C to Out…

Each team will get 10 minutes per sheet for practice

Round Robin: Pool play with 6 pools of 4 teams, everyone will play 3 games.

Pre-Game Practice: All round robin pool play games will start with pre-game practice

teams will practice on the ice at the same time, each team will stay on one side of the ice, alternating shots between teams

teams listed first will throw red rocks

teams listed second will throw yellow rocks

prior to practice, teams should flip a coin, the winner will either choose throwing order or side of the sheet to practice and throw DSC shots on, the other team can select whichever the winner did not.

Each team will throw 2 rocks to the away end and then 2 rocks back to the home end and then 2 Draw Shot Challenge (DSC) draw shots to determine hammer (one by each player)

teams should measure each others DSC shots and record them on the sheet provided

After all 4 DSC shots are thrown, the team with the lowest total distance to the button is awarded hammer

Average team DSC is used for ranking within the pools and seeding for tiebreakers & playoffs. (only 5 will be counted, the worst DCS shot will be thrown away)

Game Length: During Round Robin Pool Play and Tie-breakers, games will be limited to no new ends starting after 100 minutes from the start of the game unless another end is needed to break a tie.

Playoffs: There will be an 8 team playoff.

All teams will be ranked within their pools and overall based on wins, head-to-head and then DSC average

The top ranked team in each pool will automatically qualify for the playoffs.

Remaining teams with at least 2 wins will be considered for tiebreakers.

A maximum of 2 tiebreaker rounds (Sat at 4:30pm & 8pm) will be used to determine the last 2 teams qualifying for the quarterfinals.

One quarterfinal game (4v5) will take place at 8pm on Saturday. All remaining quarterfinals will be on Sunday morning at 8:30am.

Pre-game practice will continue throughout Tie-breakers & Playoffs

During tie-breakers and playoffs, the higher-seeded team will have hammer and the choice of practice order or rock color. No DSC shots are needed.

Results: Will be kept up to date on the online google sheet and on the white board in the club.

curlingzone.com at the very top it should say "Welcome Guest", you can click the "register" link (or sign in if you already have an account). Once you have an account set up, you should be able to click on "teams" (again at the very top) that will take you to the Team Administration page. You can select doubles from the drop down list and click register. Make sure you click the box for World Team Ranking.

*You won't be able to select our event yet, as it has still not been added to the calendar. I will advise teams as soon as CurlingZone sets us up.

HOTELS:

We do not have any specific arrangements with hotels, but there are about 15 hotels within 7 minutes of the club at the Union Center Exit on I75 (Exit 19) (right around the corner from IKEA) The other nice area that is only 12min from the club is at Liberty Way Exit on I75 (Exit 24) There are 3 or 4 new hotels in that area, including a Holiday Inn Express (IHG hotel), it is near Liberty Center (large shopping and eating complex) and right around the corner from a Craft Brewery (Grainworks).

We have mens and womens change rooms. We also have 3 individual unisex bathrooms available.
