I'm able to gather more resources to use with my staff and students. It also inspires me to try new things.

They are able to see the connectedness of classrooms all over the world.

I think not enough educators take advantage of the learning and sharing on Twitter. It is a powerful resource that is underutilised.

I am much more collaborative with my work and practise and linking to others around the world. Our students who are isolated in rural NZ are able to be linked to experts, classrooms and their peers nationally and internationally.

They have a much better world view as it allows them to collaborate with others.

I sat on my hands for the first year with it and following that started to get to use it. I consider it vital to my professional development in terms of opportunities and collaborations. I wouldn't teach without it and wouldn't work somewhere were it wasn't considered relevant.

I use it mainly for connecting with other educator. Like minded people doing the same sort of thing as me. It hasn't so much changed my teaching as validating it and allowing me to continue in the direction I was heading.

I don't really use it with students.

It has changed my leadership in that I have hundreds of contacts to inspire and challenge my work through following them on Twitter. I use it to sound people out and to learn. I started the leaderchatnz to bring leaders into another online forum. I felt that teachers had plenty of Twitter options but not so much for school leaders.

It has had impact on my staff as I am kept up to date with new initiatives and up to date pedagogical issues. I pass on my learnings and wondering within my own school based on Twitter activity.

It has opened the door to more opportunities and to see what others are doing, as well as been a great place for questioning, challenging assumptions etc.

Provides a way - for students and teachers - of sharing short, well-considered points / summaries, some of which are very powerful and translate into changes in learning. Helped me empower students and make them more self-directed.

Authentic audience for my students, access to experts, community, perspective increases, new ideas to try, sharing learning with parents.

Both - I love the constant flow of ideas, and perspective. PLN is great, new and unexpected experiences arise, but at the same time, I could "live" without it as I am resourceful enough to seek these things out.

I can tap into areas such as play based learning to see what others in New Zealand and around the world are doing and share my ideas with teachers at any time or place through Twitter. It's an awesome way to reflect, collaborate and improve teaching and learning through my professional blog as well.

I think my students benefit from the free and ongoing PD I get from my Twitter PLN.

As a part time release teacher and Mum I sometimes miss PD due to my hours at school and family commitments. With Twitter I can make connections and learn when I have time. I think it's a must for educators to connect on Twitter.

Twitter also has powerful benefits in helping students - and teachers- be succinct in their thinking and to summarise their ideas. The connections made can be inspirational, challenging to your thinking and lifelong. Conversations become part of a community of practice to change practice. I come & go on Twitter depending on what's of interest, tend to use more for following or participating in events or interests in the news

There are times when I read something on twitter that ignites my curiosity. I will then go and explore this further and have many times grown my knowledge around happenings in education.

Using KidsedchatNZ, my students use their skills for reading and writing tweets. Students sometimes share learning in this forum and one of my 5 year old students (after receiving positive feedback from another teacher on the piece of writing that he shared) was motivated to 'do better' in his writing. He persevered and became confident in writing a story.

I like that we can make connections with others (not only locally), but also globally.
Twitter is a great tool for the not so 'confident' people by also giving them a 'Voice'.

Well our class Twitter gives them a real authentic audience. They can connect with other classes, their parents. It's a great quick way for us to reflect as well as we use it as a tool for the kids to evaluate a goal, share a success or give feedback.

I don't see why there aren't more educators on board with Twitter. You just need to start following the right people and you are away. I use to think Twitter was for sharing meaningless stuff until I saw the benefits of it in the education sector!

Connection with a personal and professional learning network, developing a collaborative, reciprocal, sharing relationship; 'almost instant' access to sharing of ideas, challenge, provocation, resources and research to support any teaching inquiry or challenge. A tried and true source of 'real NZ experience' and global experience. Connection with an authentic audience for my writing and writing and sharing of my learners.

Knowledge of authentic audience had VERY positive impact on engagement with, perseverance with and extension of written language tasks, shared on the blog, and shared via twitter. Change in my practice impacted positively on learners. Advice, support, challenge, feedback and forward from outside the eco-chamber of own school.

As a U2 principal with very modern pedagogy in a very poor performing school that needs big changes it has reduced my feeling of isolation (not physical but mental) and in some ways given me the courage to battle on. Any job in education is hard but when you're working with a entrenched mindset and no aspiration for students, we are decile 1A, it can become so disheartening and numbing. Twitter reminds me of possibilities, lets me communicate globally with like minded people and makes me feel like I'm part of a team. In my teaching it has pushed me to get my kids coding, gaming, learning in online environment, blogging, collaborating, using makey-makey, robotics etc.

I believe that people who are not tweeting or missing some of the richest learning possible. Had a great conversation the other day with Lee Crockett and gained lots from the back and forth messaging. That would never happen in real life, my kids have also gained from that conversation as has The Book Depository.
