12 Mar 2022Lynn BloomquistI grew up with a Spring Green mailing address, a Plain telephone number and went to school in Sauk Prairie. A lot of my Kindschi relatives were from Sumpter Township. So even though I have lived in Ohio for 25 years now, my heart is in Sauk County and will always be my home. I love to keep learning more about it!

Virtually all of my ancestry comes from the Oberpfalz and visiting your website just last night has greatly increased my knowledge. Thanks so much for my great uncle Leo's videos and the history of Grafenried and how to sift thru those records!! Never knew that stuff! My ggggrandfather Joseph Weiss was born and/or raised in Grafenried before building the Schindlhof farm near Schaeferei. I visited the Waldmuenchen area a couple times during a year of study at the University of Stuttgart in '89-'90 and took my parents in 2004. I understand the early visit may have been a trigger for our Bavarian friends to begin visiting Plain. I do still have some documents that Hans Stautner of Schaeferei provided me. I need to understand them better (old script) and then find a place to post them.

20 Apr 2021Carol Pollacktheamea@cox.netI am researching my father's line. George J. Ruhland (1920-2004). His parents (my grandparents) were Frank Xavier Ruhland (1884-1950) & Frances Wingels (1883-1956). Frank Xavier's parents were George Ruhland (1841-1905) & Ana Ruhland (18514-1931). I'm looking forward to learning more & sharing what I have. The more documentation I can find the better. I am going to order the DVD & hope it helps. I understand George Ederer did an extensive research of the Ruhlands there.

7 Mar 2019DebbiePaul Weiss, so glad you were able to meet Georg Ederer. Only some of his pedigrees were made public on a DVD; more info is on my homepage. I have not found out what became of the rest of his research. I think we have the same Ringelstetter and Pfeiffer ancestors!

7 Mar 2019DebbieWilliam Freker, I believe you would be a very distant cousin if your Henry Freker was the same known also as Johann Heinrich Freker (1836-1917) married to Mary Katharina Lankemeier (Lampkemeyer/Lamkemayer) around 1864-1865.

13 Jun 2018William FrekerFrekerw@icloud.comI live in Pittsburgh and our family immigrated from Osnabruck in 1833 I'm sure we are related to Anna Marie Freker in some way. One of our relatives fought in the Civil war and is on the Pennsylvania Monument at Gettysburg his name is Henry Freker from the 62nd regiment. They lived at a place called Freker Hall in the Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh and owned a grocery store in the 3800 block of Butler St. they were also active in St. Augustine Catholic Church where there are many records. There are still quite a few Freker's living in Pittsburgh. I found your information quite informative and funny. Feel free to contact me at my email

Very excited to find that Georg Ederer's research has been retained. I met Georg when I traveled there with my parents, Robert and Joan (Ringelstetter) Weiss back in 2004. I still have a great deal of information from him and from Hans Stautner from Schaeferei and from Anni Ringelstetter in Traunstein. I should retain these too and your website might be just the thing.

They settled with one party on the West side and the other on the east side of Marathon City. Family rumor is they are uncle and nephew, respectively...

Hello, Fascinating website! Thanks for the great info. Would like to have your permission to use your descriptions of Bauer and Hausler in a small book I am putting together regarding a group of German immigrants who settled in my community in the 1880's. The German documents for them list them as viertelbauer and hausler. Your description of the terms are very englightening and I would appreciate being able to use these and credit you with them.
