| 4/8/2015 20:39:24 | Stefan (Stefan) | 314 | 87.5 | Not the prettiest wrapper leaf, as it has uneven coloration; however, judging by the firmness of the stick and the easy cold draw through a 9mm hole it appears to be masterfully rolled, which for me is all that really matters. | 87.5 | Aroma is of wood and cardboard, in other words of well aged tobacco that's young enough to leave the door open for a possible nicotine kick, although Lady Nic. seems to be rather shy on the cold draw. | 90 | Medium-Strong | Medium-Full | Starts off medium-full, with notes of cocoa, cinnamon, nuts, white pepper, molasses, and coffee. Half an inch in cocoa, wood, and coffee become the dominant flavors, with the semi-sweet coffee component (reminiscent of dulce de leche with a dash of nutmeg) continuing into the long finish. The burn line is uneven but self-correcting. | 87.5 | Strong | Medium | The second third introduces a layer of white pepper on top of the dulce de leche, and strength gets bumped up a notch bordering on full. Then around the midpoint a bitter espresso component begins creeping in on the palate. Toward the end of second third the flavor profile becomes dominated by coffee notes, with the white pepper holding strong on the finish and especially on the retrohale. By this point the nicotine has become noticeable. | 87.5 | Strong | Light-Medium | The last third is marked by notes of wood, coffee and anise with hints of ammonia on the palate, and strong white pepper notes on the medium-long finish. | 95 | No issues with the draw whatsoever. | 90 | Wavy burn line but self-correcting. Stayed lit for 4+ minutes at a time. | 95 | As opposed to the majority of stogies on the market, this one did not get spongy at the nub. | 87.5 | I was really excited by how it started, but then it became less and less complex as it burned down. Still, this stogie was a nice change of pace from the black pepper-dominated market with its flavors of white pepper and molasses. The espresso-dominated profile during the second half was a bit of a disappointment, yet it had enough sweetness overall to pair nicely with a Dubbel ale. | 65
| 4/28/2015 22:11:14 | Steve (ThaGreatWazoo) | 314 | 90 | The cigar has a very nice dark brown tone to the wrapper. There are very distinct and abundant veins running throughout the cigar. The cap appears to have a good construction to it. There are no bumps or damage to any part of the cigar and it appears as thou it was well cared for in the making of it. | 92.5 | There are very nice aromas coming from off of the wrapper and the foot area. I am getting pleasant hints of citrus and tall grass. The initial cold draw is very sweet with a nice citrus finish. No pepper or spice notes are present and the overall impression is that this will be a mild to medium cigar based upon the flavors. | 92.5 | Mild-Medium | Medium | Right out the gate, the initial notes are very sweet and soft. Abundant amounts of citrus and sweetness come forward. The retrohale is very light and pleasant with more of a citrus finish to it. As the first third grabs hold, dry grass compliments the citrus flavors and gives a cuban cigar style complexity. The cigar in the first third is very mild-medium with a medium complexity. It is very enjoyable and not burning too hot. | 92.5 | Mild-Medium | Medium | The second third continues with the citrus and dry grass flavor profile. The smoke almost smells of hay and the retrohale continues to be pleasant and light bodied with a sweet crisp finish. The ash holds strong through most of the second third with little to no relights or touch-ups. Towards the end of the second third, a slight pepper spice comes forward, but may be contributed to more heat on the ash coming forward. | 92.5 | Medium-Strong | Medium | The final third continues to have a hay and dry grass profile and aroma. A more dominant pepper profile emerges on the retrohale and throughout the finish of the final third. The draw near the end stays pleasant with no burn or over heating issues. The complexity stays medium, however; the cigar definitely turns to a medium-strong strength. | 92.5 | The draw on the cigar was very pleasant. I used a scissor cut and it allowed the draw to come in quite nicely. There were no issues with the cap or the head of the cigar throughout my smoking time. | 85 | The burn on this cigar was fair. The burn lines ran consistently throughout, but they were not to big of a nuisance. A few relights to touch-up the cigar were needed, but did not have any real affect on the smoking experience. | 87.5 | The construction of this cigar was good. The cigar kept burning throughout, however; the burn ran after the first third and required touching up. The feel of the cigar was tight and the wrapper had many veins present, but none of these observations affected the total outcome of the cigar. | 92.5 | This cigar was a very enjoyable smoke on a Tuesday night. The aromas and flavor profile were quite enjoyable and pleasant to the palate. The lack of spice or pepper up front was unconventional due to the color and makeup of the cigar, however; it led to a surprising smoke and "on the edge of your seat" experience waiting for what was next to come. The cigar never truly changed complexity and stayed the same throughout, but again the flavor profile was enjoyable so it did not hinder the overall outcome. I would suggest at least giving this cigar a chance and seeing if it fits your style. For me, I like a stronger maduro with a lot of pepper forward, but this is a nice change of pace to clean out the palate and enjoy some sweet, citrus flavors and aromas. | 86
| 5/12/2015 17:27:52 | Gregg (McGreggor57) | 314 | 90 | A beautiful dark wrapper that gets darker near the foot. The cap is a bit rough but the lack of veins makes up for this minor detraction. | 92.5 | A touch of cedar accompanies the barnyard down the length of this cigar. A little more hay at the foot with a mix of cedar and root vegatable on the cold draw. | 92.5 | Medium | Medium | A light char mingles with a little spice to start the party. There is a bit of toast that lingers in the background and adds a nice dimension to the cigar. Near the end a soft allspice appears, putting the bow on this third. | 90 | Medium | Medium | Some of the root vegetable I picked up on the cold draw is coming through. A little pepper on the retrohale is getting my attention. As the third comes to an end, the allspice again returns. This time a little stronger. | 87.5 | Medium | Medium | A lot of vegetal flavors are surfacing with a faint floral quality in the background. More heat from the pepper is picking up on the the nose and the palate. As this cigar winds down I'm not getting much change. | 90 | The draw was not much of an issue. A little firm near the end perhaps. | 95 | Given it was a windy day, they burn line held it's own and the ash was nice and firm. | 90 | Consistent firmness and no issues to speak of. | 90 | I really enjoyed the char and toast the first third offered. The vegetal qualities of the second third were a nice change. The final third, however, was more of a continuation of the middle. It created a feeling of one dimension and I started to lose interest in it near the end. Given all that, I would gladly smoke it again. | 70
| 5/16/2015 11:51:07 | Dan (Danfish) | 314 | 90 | Cigar has excellent weight to it. The wrapper is somewhat lumpy with mostly invisible seams and one minor hole. Very nice, even chocolate color. | 90 | Very little smell. What I get is a light cedar and tobacco. | 90 | Mild-Medium | Light-Medium | I get a light nuttiness and sweetness to begin the cigar. Good flavors but very light. The nuttiness quickly disappears, leaving mostly just a smooth tobacco flavor with a bit of sweetness. | 87.5 | Mild-Medium | Light | No transitions here. Just getting a little bit of earthiness and sweetness typical from a maduro wrapper mixed with a smooth tobacco. Not unpleasant, but also not a flavor that you're going to get excited about. | 87.5 | Mild-Medium | Light | Nothing new to report here. Still very light with a slight sweetness but mainly just tobacco flavor. | 85 | Draw was very tight for the first half. I often needed to double puff the cigar to get enough smoke. Worked a knot out near the head of the cigar at the halfway point and it opened up to just a little tighter than ideal. | 87.5 | Needed a few minor touchups but nothing too bad. | 90 | The cigar had an excellent weight to it and there were no tunnels or issues like that. The plug in the cigar was an issue to begin with but that worked itself out at the halfway point. | 87.5 | This is a difficult cigar for me to give a rating as mild maduros aren't cigars I personally enjoy. It performed decently well and was very smooth, but the flavors weren't interesting to me in the least. If you're looking for a light cigar with maduro flavors to go with your morning coffee this could be an excellent choice. I smoked this cigar late at night and was looking for a little more punch and flavor. It was very well constructed and assuming the blender was going for a mild, smooth maduro, they achieved their goal very well. It's not a cigar I will be seeking out, but it would be high on my recommended list for someone looking for a mild maduro. | 86
| 6/23/2015 20:56:14 | Emmett (rhetorik) | 314 | 85 | This isn't a great looking cigar; the wrapper is mottled and the veins are a lighter color so they stand out. The seam-work is good and it feels solid in-hand. | 87.5 | The wrapper and foot have kind of a dry, spicy aroma to them. Pre-light draw is earthy with some espresso. | 85 | Medium-Strong | Light-Medium | The first inch or so is just kind of harsh, no real flavors are coming out except some spice that is not particularly appealing. The same charred-spice flavor lasts throughout this third. | 82.5 | Medium | Light-Medium | This third has backed off in strength and spice a bit, but unfortunately, that doesn't leave any other flavors. Sadly there are no changes throughout this third, just boring charred spice. | 80 | Medium-Strong | Light | The downhill climb has continued to this third; not only do I still only have the faint flavors of charred spices, not I'm left with a metallic finish. It's getting pretty bitter and the burn does not cooperate very well. | 85 | The draw started out alright, but tightened up along the way a couple times. | 85 | The burn needed a few corrections and wandered a lot. | 85 | Overall the construction was not great, it had problems with the draw and burn, and wasn't appealing to look at. | 82.5 | This was not one that I enjoyed, the only flavors I got the whole time were charred spices and a metallic after-taste. Not pleasant. It had a number of technical problems as well, adding up to a subpar experience. Can't recommend this one. | 89
