Map wrongly describes townland as Middle LetterlickeyThe Kilcrohane 'King', Tobins were part of a network of prosperous Catholic families in the general area. these would include The McCarthys and Murnanes from 1820s leases of Hutchinson estate. The Catholic Shannons who married into the Tobins would be in the category, there were Wards Minor Landlords of Glenlough and Droumatinaheen early 1800s. The Rosses of Glendart and Crowleys of Ballyourane, Caheragh. Cork and this Memorial as to its execution by the said John O’Connell is duly attested by the said John Sullivan, Bantry, Co. Cork and Andrew McCarthy, Bantry, Co. Cork, Attorney at law. John O’Connell seal signed and sealed in the presence Andrew McCarthy, John O’Sullivan. Then John O’Sullivan of Bantry, Co. Cork, gentleman maketh oath and saith that by law the deed of assignment of which the above is a Memorial duly signed sealed and executed by the above named Denis Marinane, John Marinane and John O’Connell the executing parties thereto and that he saw this memorial duly signed and sealed by the said John O’Connell and that the same John O’Sullivan respectively signed to said deed and memorial is the proper name and handwriting of this deponent John Sullivan from before me at Bantry, Co. part of the lands of Letterlickey aforesaid as then in a divided … in the actual possession and occupation of the said Denis Marinane with a said proportion of a mountain in said Letterlickey then undivided and situate in the parish of Kilmacamogue, Barony of Carbery, Co. Cork aforesaid for and during the natural life and lives of Owen Marinane eldest son of John Marinane party thereto, Patrick Murnane of Letterlickey aforesaid brother of the therein lessee and Daniel Duggan of … in said Co. Cork, gentleman and the survivors and survivor of them at the yearly rent of £5 12shillings & 10 pence sterling and reciting a certain reservation and covenant therein contained and reciting that by the other Indenture of lease dated 15 th November 1841 the said John Marinane Senior did demise and let unto the said John Marinane Junior also his son one other part of said lands of Letterlickey as then in his possession and occupation with a due proportion of the mountain of said Letterlickey then undivided also half the original portion of turf bog then also undivided. To hold to him his heirs and assigns with the appurtenances for and during the natural lives of the said Owen Marinane, Patrick Marinane and Daniel Duggan the cestui que vies aforesaid and the survivors of them at the yearly rent of £5 12 shillings and 10 pence sterling and reciting a certain reservation and covenant in said Indenture of lease contained and also reciting that the said Denis Marinane and John Marinane Junior did propose to the said John O’Connell to sell and release to him said parts of said lands of Letterlickey so demised to them by the said John Marinane Senior for and during their estate therein for the sum of £42 sterling as was testified that the said Denis Marinane and John Marinane Junior for and in consideration of said sum of £42 sterling it was testified that the said Denis Marinane and John Marinane for and in consideration of said £42 sterling to them in hand paid by the said John O’Connell the right where of is thereby acknowledged granted bargained sold assigned transferred and confirmed unto the said John O’Connell in his actual possession then being by virtue of a bargain and sale therein recited his heirs and assigns all that and those the aforesaid parts of said lands of Letterlickey so demised to them respectively by said Indenture of lease of the 22 nd October and 15 th November and situate lying and being in the Parish of Kilmacomogue, Barony of West Carbery, Co. Cork with the reversion and … rents … and profits there of respectively and all their respective estates right title and … therein or thereto at law or in equity. To have and to hold the same with the appurtenances unto the said John O’Connell his heirs and assigns for and during the natural lives and life of the said Owen Marinane, Patrick Marinane and Daniel Duggan the cestui que vie aforesaid in said Indentures of lease there in before in part recited now particularly mentioned and described and the survivors and survivor of their subject however to the payments of the rents respectively yearly payable thereout and subject also to the performance of the covenants in said lease contained with the rights privileges and advantages dwelling houses outhouses and offices thereto respectively belonging and which Deed containing a covenant that the said Denis Marinane and John Marinane had then vested in them a full right and legal power
