39	Jesabelle is quite cute, even beautiful, with a splash of freckles across her nose and cheeks, blue eyes behind wire-framed glasses perched on the end of her nose, and brown hair that she often wears in a pair of low pigtail buns behind her ears, in a high ponytail, a Kalosian braid, or in a more elaborate hairstyle. Jessie almost never wears her hair loose, but when she does it comes down almost to her hips. Jessie almost invariably wears a dark blue and light pink hoodie with white trim, particularly after puberty saw her taking after her mother; in addition to the useful pockets, she likes not being ogled all the time. She always wears a choker, black ribbon with a pink silk rose at the throat; it was a gift from her grandmother, and she’s quite attached to it. Other parts of Jessie’s outfit vary, and can include a long-sleeved tee-shirt layered under a short-sleeved shirt, a spaghetti-strap tank top, or a V-necked tee-shirt, cutoff denim shorts or a skater miniskirt, and thigh-high stockings or leggings with sneakers.							Jesabelle’s parents expected many things of her, but unfortunately she was none of them. Her mother, Genevieve, was a model and actress from Kalos who expected her to be the epitome of feminine grace and charm, while her father, Gerard, was an ace trainer and worked in Lysandre Labs who expected her to be a genius and masterful trainer. Jessie’s mother put her career on hold after Jesabelle was born to become a housewife and stay-at-home mom, while her father was often away on business. They expected Jessie to follow in their footsteps, but were disappointed when the girl failed to live up to their expectations. Constantly overshadowed by her parents, particularly her domineering mother, Jessie retreated into her room to seek the solace of books. An avid reader, she devoured countless paperbacks rather than deal with her mother’s catty remarks about her unkempt appearance or ‘suggestions’ about what she ought to be doing with her time. When Lysandre and Team Flare were defeated by the Hero of Kalos, Jesabelle’s father lost his job and found himself blacklisted in the scientific community for his associations with Team Flare. Jesabelle’s parents divorced, and to no-one’s surprise Jessie accompanied her father to Eisen rather than stay with her mother in Kalos, where he could pursue his studies in the new land free from his past. After moving to Eisen, Jessie underwent a dramatic change - one her father jokingly referred to as her evolving, though unbeknownst to all it was her latent psychic powers manifesting. She became much more outgoing, even driven, really enjoying herself for the first time in her life as she excelled academically, joined the cheer squad, and even took up sports. No matter what she picked up and tried, it all came far too easily for her. Rather than enjoying this, however, it became frustrating for Jessie after a couple of years of unabated success in stark contrast to her mediocre life in Kalos. Without the challenge, there was just no excitement in life. Becoming bored and melancholic, she started picking up and dropping hobbies to find something interesting enough for her. Pokemon training is the latest hobby Jessie picked up, and she applied for a trainer’s license in the nearby village of Star Top.

41	Jessie is hot-blooded, garrulous, and arrogant with a bit of a superiority complex, self-assured to a fault with an undying optimism that can vary between inspiring and irritating to those around her. It is a cover, because deep down she’s still the timid little kitten with a bit of an inferiority complex she was as a little girl. She is overbearing at times, tends to have little to no regard for anyone or anything that gets in her way, and has no problems using her good looks to get what she wants. Jessie’s by no means heartless, and wouldn’t dream of deliberately causing grievous harm, but she can be quite callous with other people’s emotions and taboos.							Jesabelle seeks adventure. Bored with a mundane life because everything came too easily to her, she became a Pokemon trainer to find challenges and excitement impossible back on her father’s ranch. She wants to excel, to prove to everyone that she’s the best around, and will stop at nothing to defeat everyone in her way to becoming the Pokemon League Champion. Jesabelle’s dream is to capture the elusive legendary Pokemon, Mew, inspired by the painting A Man and Mew in the Lumiose Museum that she saw as a little girl. Failing that, she would like to discover and capture the heretofore unknown legendary Pokemon of the Eisen region.
