Teacher: Bill Coleman."Which Way is Up" : At the end of this class we will be able to play Five Foot Two every key all keys. Even Eb! Teacher: Max Willard.UKULELE JAM: Come jam out to popular tunes with Steve Butler of the Utah Ukulele Association. This year we will use the Main Hall of the community center and have the songs projected on a screen. The jam will end around 11:30, giving anyone time to walk over to the park and sign up for the annual Open Mic Picnic (sign ups start at 11:45). Teacher: Steve Butler.

11:00 AMUke 101: What makes the difference between a mediocre, good and great ukulele? Learn what to look for in your next ukulele purchase: tone woods, exotic woods, body sizes, tuning heads, strings, useful accessories, all you need to know. Teacher: Marcus Hight of Best in Music.Running a Successful School Ukulele Program: Learn tips for starting a successful program in your school. Topics will include how to begin, writing grants for instruments, buying instruments, managing classroom behavior, classroom rules for keeping your sanity, differentiating for varying levels of playing, keeping the instruments in tune, preparing for a performance, and keeping student interest while helping them work hard. Teacher: Linda Seamons.BUILD A SOPRANO UKULELE PART 1: Over the course of two class sessions, we will assemble, glue, and string up a soprano ukulele from a "Gittylele" kit. This is a great introduction to the joys of instrument building. There is a $65 material fee for this class. Limit 6. 12:15 PMUKULELE OPEN MIC & PICNIC (FREE) : Come picnic & sing your song at the 5th annual open mic. All open mic performers will be entered into a drawing for cool ukulele and music prizes. Drawing will take place at the concert in the evening (must be present to win). The open mic is one of the highlights of the annual festival. Bring your lawn chairs! Sign ups for the Ukulele Open Mic Picnic begin at 11:45am at the park. If you're participating any of the 11am classes, we'll pass around the sign up sheet in class between 11:15-30am.

2:00 PMEasy Fingerpicking: Learn how to fingerpick the same song seven different ways using the chords C, F, and G7. And if there is time, we’ll learn how to fingerpick some fun riffs. Teacher: Steve Baugh.BUILD A SOPRANO UKULELE PART 2: Continued (see above details and materials fees). Instructor: Daniel Hulbert.Rock 'n Roll Ukulele: Learn how to rock your uke with popular rock songs. Teacher: Steve Butler.

3:00 PMUkulele Songwriting (The Blues): Not only will you learn how to play the blues, you'll also dive 'write' in to start creating your own blues song. Teacher: M. Ryan Taylor.5 Chords to Learn (+2): Learn C D7 F G and G7; with these 5 chords, you can play many songs using a 3-chord progression (I IV V7) in 2 different keys (C and G). We'll then add Am and Em and talk about a 4-chord progression (I vi IV V7). Teacher: Chris MacAfee.

4:00 PMSuper-chord-ifragilistic: How to make songs with ’too many chords’ less daunting. This class answers both questions, "How do you simplify a song with a lot of chords?" and "How do you conquer songs with lots of chords when you don't want to pair them down?" Teacher: Chris MacAfee.KEYNOTE SPEAKERS: The Naked Waiters "How we create songs and arrange creative covers." Teachers: Kim Bjerga, Clark Holmes and Andy Nufer.
