| Welcome to PLJV's Implementation Plan Strategies document. During the planning process, we started with the population goals from the four continental bird plans and stepped them down to our region, then developed habitat conservation goals for each state, by bird conservation region (BCR), to support our regional population goals. Next, we sought to understand two things, what our current landscape looks like and how it is predicted to change in the future. Finally, we developed conservation strategies that can begin to address the conservation challenges we face. In this document, you'll see a series of tabs or sheets listed across the bottom. Click on a tab to see the goals and strategies for that state and Bird Conservation Region (BCR). Each state and region has two sheets associated with that area; the Current sheet describes the conservation work that is currently happening, while the Proposed sheet describes projects or programs that are being developed. When viewing the Current and Proposed sheets, you'll first see two paragraphs, one about playas and a second about grasslands. In these paragraphs we provide some landscape context for the state BCR region, estimate current rates of habitat loss, and list our habitat goals. These goals and loss rates are reflected in the table below, along with an accounting of the acres being conserved each year and the number of acres that are still needed to meet our goals. If you navigate through all of the tabs, you'll see a Needed Strategies tab, which describes programs or projects that need to be developed to help accomplish our habitat goals. The following lines provide more definitions for some of the terms used in this document. | |

| Current Programs | Active conservation programs funded and being implemented in the PLJV landscape |
| Proposed | Conservation programs that are currently under active development (e.g., funding being sought, partnerships being developed, etc.) |
| Needed I-Plan Strategies | Ideas for additional strategies that need to be developed to meet conservation goals in the PLJV |
| Text in Green, Orange, or Red | Color of the text in the grassland status paragraph in Row 2 indicates how much of the native grasslands are protected. Our goal is to have at least 5% of remaining native grassland protected. Green = >5% of native grassland is protected Orange = >1% and <5% of native grassland is protected Red = <1% of native grassland is protected |
| Current Acres | Estimated current number of acres of each generalized landocver type in the BCR x state area. The acres are calculated from the PLJV landcover and probable playas dataset, except for CRP which comes from the FSA CLU data layer. |
| Acres Needed | Estimated number of acres required to meet bird objectives stepped down from the continental bird plans. The timeframe for this goal is 10 years. |
| Annual Target | The number of acres needed to be conserved per year of our 10-year Acres Goal plus the estimated number of acres that are being converted to other landcover types. This value represents the total number of acres needed to be conserved each year to meet our 10 year planning goal and keep up with estimated loss rates |
| Acres total | Total number of acres remaining to be conserved after accounting for new acres of conservation |
| Remove ERC/MSQ | Remove shrubs with a focus on eastern redcedar and mesquite |
