| About the 108% Drive | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| When a delay occurs in the transition of a full-swing (100%), the shot shape circle turns red, granting 101% power. By exceeding this 101% timing, holding the swing-back position longer, and transitioning to the downswing at the appropriate moment, you can gain additional power ranging from 102% to 108%. However, exceeding the 108% timing causes power to rapidly decrease, dropping back down to 101%. While this allows for greater distance than usual, there are drawbacks. As power builds from 102% to 108%, the tolerance window for contact and swing path continues to narrow. At the limit of 108%, the window width is nearly halved. Being mindful of this and selecting the right situations to utilize it can provide an advantage on long holes.

| Recommendations for Using Choke Shots
| Take advantage of the choked tee shots and approach shots that become available when you unlock certain skills. These shots offer greater forgiveness in your swing by sacrificing power. Since power is reduced, there are aspects such as decreased distance and spin (making the ball slightly harder to stop), as well as a limited range for power adjustment. However, there is also the advantage that distance adjustment becomes easier because you can aim for the distance between clubs with a full swing (100% transition). Furthermore, I’d like to mention a slightly subtle characteristic. Even with clubs of the same number, the trajectory is generally lower with a choke shot. By “generally,” I mean that with 5- and 6-irons, the trajectory is nearly the same height, whereas with 3- and 4-irons, the trajectory is actually higher with a choke shot. The height of the trajectory affects how much the wind impacts the ball. The effect may not be immediately noticeable, but in strong winds, it might be wise to pay attention to this difference.

| Draw or Fade? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| As you know, in this game, you can choose whether your character has a draw or a fade. For right-handed players, selecting “Draw” applies a swing bias from the bottom left to the top right, while selecting “Fade” applies a swing bias from the bottom right to the top left (provided that swing bias is enabled in the swing settings). I imagine you choose your shot based on how easy it is to swing (using the joystick) given the biases mentioned above, but don’t you think that draw and fade shots are simply the same curve but in opposite directions? As mentioned in the official documentation (*), just like in real golf, draw shots tend to roll more easily and have greater roll after landing (they don’t stop as quickly but gain more distance). Conversely, a fade ball generates stopping power upon landing, which suppresses roll (spin is effective, making it easier to stop). By taking these characteristics into account when setting up your shot, you’ll be able to execute more varied course management. *: https://pgatour.2k.com/2k25/up-your-game/shot-shaping/

| About the sound of the club striking the ball
| Basically, when selecting clubs in this game, the focus is solely on each club’s initial tier. Other differences between clubs include their appearance, as well as several different impact sounds depending on the club type. It’s unclear exactly how many sounds are included, but the 2K Hickory series has a distinctive wooden sound, and the steampunk-themed drivers added in Season 6 (such as "PD-S70") produce a strange impact sound that sounds like a mis-hit. If you have the resources to upgrade your clubs, it might be worth paying attention to the impact sounds as well as the appearance. That is, if you have VC to spare...

| How to Maximize Distance on Your Tee Shot
| I’ve already explained how to hit a 108% drive above, but I’ll also describe the best way to maximize distance on your tee shot. Please note that this assumes you’re hitting the ball on a flat fairway, ignoring factors like wind. Here’s the setup for that shot: 1. Power 99 2. Shaping 99 3. Select PowerDrive 4. Set “Ball” to the top in Shaping 5. Set “Bar” to the bottom in Shaping 6. Execute Contact and SwingPath at Perfect 7. Achieve 108% in Transition 8. Maximize Rhythm as much as possible (confirmed to exceed +10%) 8. Achieve Perfect in Rhythm (*)(**) If you can do all of the above, you should be able to hit shots around 400 yards. (I have not personally verified the results when setting the Shaping attribute in step 2 to 99.) A brief explanation: Setting the bar to the bottom in step 5 may seem counterintuitive as it increases backspin. However, when you hit the top of the ball—which reduces backspin—and use the effect of lowering the “bar” to raise the ball flight, the result is an increase in both total carry distance and overall distance. When seeking consistent distance in strong headwinds, I believe it is also effective to set the bar to the middle or top rather than the bottom. Note: If the conditions allow for the use of consumable balls, using "flight ball" will likely result in a more reliable increase in distance. *: I have made a correction due to an error in my understanding. Even when it comes to rhythm, the maximum carry distance is achieved when the rhythm is perfect. Naturally, when the rhythm is negative, the carry distance is reduced, but even when a positive value is achieved, the carry distance is still shorter than when the rhythm is perfect (in the case of a driver shot). Based on my tests at the training facility, I found that a rhythm of 0% resulted in a carry distance that was 7 to 8 yards longer than a rhythm of +10%. Therefore, I have updated the text accordingly. I would like to apologize here for providing incorrect information. **: I’d like to add a few more points. The conclusion that carry distance is maximized and total distance is also maximized when the rhythm is “Perfect” remains unchanged. When the rhythm is “Positive,” I confirmed that while carry distance decreases (by 5–6 yards), roll distance increases (by 2–3 yards) (when not using a flight ball). Therefore, while the total distance falls short of that achieved with a perfect rhythm due to the reduction in carry, in situations where the landing area is on a downhill slope or a downhill shot, swinging with a positive rhythm may actually result in a greater total distance. These are strictly my personal test results, but I hope they prove helpful.
