This was fantastic. I tore through it and a number of the sequels. It was an expensive week on my amazon account.

I found the tone interesting and the concept pretty fascinating. Elements of the plot took a bit too long to unfold. I also thought that occasionally the writing was a bit too clever for the protagonist, taking me out of the story.

I really enjoyed the slice of life nature of this. The acceptance of gender equality etcetera was done well because it was just part of the story instead of feeling preachy. It was a fantastic feel good book although not a great deal happens. I read the sequel right away which was better.

I only found this to be fairly average. A lot of the flashback backstory did not seem to be needed. I also felt the p.o.v. jumped awkwardly and occasionally people thought things that one would not normally think ... felt like the author was thinking for them.

I am a big RJB fan and I loved this and the prequel. The final in the trilogy is near the top of my TBR pile.

For what this was meant to be - it is near perfect. A fun, light-hearted romance that had me smiling all the way through with just enough tension to make you not want to put it down.

I enjoyed this but not as much as other people seemed to. Protagonist seemed a little too awesome for me to really buy in. Good story though.

I am a big Duncan fan but this was a little too old fashioned for me. I prefer the Kings Blades series.

Parker sure knows his siegecraft. I am not sure I bought into the whole concept though.

Light hearted fun and romance that plays out over a number of books. If you don't go in hoping for high art it is very entertaining.

There is a reason people still read this so many years after it was written. Good balance of grit and action and plot. And the little familiar is a blast.

Graphic Novel (at least 1 vol.) OR Audiobook/Audiodrama

This was the hardest square for me. I don't like graphic novels and don't have the time or inclination to listen to audio when I can read myself. Clearly anime is not for me as I really had trouble finishing this. (Graphic novels in general - the images distract rather than add for me so I never finished Sandman either and I love Gaiman.

Mostly historical fiction version of Arthur. Very gritty and grimy. Well written.
