Meghan Shanley Alger(516) 965-1151https://www.meghanshanleyalger.com/interested-in-lessons • For me, teaching is all about expanding the world of possibilities for my students. My goal is to help them find a sense of belonging through exploration and self discovery. Studio successes include acceptances to Maryland Classic and Potomac Valley Youth Orchestras, All State Senior Band, as well as the University of Maryland - School of Music. Students also regularly earn top scores from MMEA Solo and Ensemble Festival. The studio comes together biannually for a group class to share our successes and challenges in practicing, play chamber music and work on technical exercises. We also gather twice a year together to perform and cheer each other on in a recital celebration and reception.
• I am Adjunct Flute Faculty at Harford Community College and Director of Mid-Atlantic Flute Convention with Flute Society of Washington, Inc. My performance credits include concerts at Symphony Space, Kennedy Center and AMP by Strathmore. I hold a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Maryland-College Park, as well as a master’s degree from SUNY Purchase College and bachelor’s degree from New York University.

Having experienced both the European and American approaches to teaching, Rebeca has developed a pedagogical method that combines the best of both. She unites the technical rigor she learned as a child in Romania with the innovation and artistic individualism of American academia. Rebeca has also studied flute pedagogy and flute repertoire under Gary Woodward, former Los Angeles Opera principal flute and has a M.M. in Flute Performance. She teaches in-home lessons in the Ellicott City area, as well as in Lutherville-Timonium
