7 | L1 | After being dropped off at the top of the caisson, Lucen watches as the Pomarine-class craft flies off to orbit. Alone again, such is the job of lamplighters. The pay is decent, but fixing things that probably shouldn't be fixed feels comfortable. Lucen powers on the generator and looks out into the ocean as he waits for it to unlock the doors to the lift. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

9 | As Lucen looks out to the endless ocean of UBP 154, there's a sudden pull, something calling him to just jump in to the dark abyss, to join them. But who? The sound of the lift brings him back to his job. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
10 | L2 | Lucen enters the caisson and seals the door shut. As pressurization begins for the lift, an automated message greets him recommending him to fill out the 'Letter of Last Resort (9L)' form. He wonders what the hell happened here that such a form exists. He plays the MemoComm transcript from the previous Lamplighter and fills out the form for fun anyways. After, Lucen leaves his first MemoComm in module A. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
11 | MemoCommA | So far everything seems normal up here at the caisson. And what is up with this Letter of Last Resort? First I've seen of something like this, is this a TEL 022 thing? What happened here that someone felt the need to make this form? Luckily I left a pen in my pack, guess I'll fill out this form. I'm not sure what to expect, seems like the lamplighter before me was having a bad day. As dark and endless the ocean feels out here, I feel some calmness for some reason decending into it. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
12 | L3 | Pressurization completes and the decent into the holding area starts. He'll never get used to rapid pressure changes. Lucen closes his eyes hoping that helps. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

15 | L4 | As the lift slows its decent, a sound pings that Lucen has arrived. He checks his dive gauge and it reads 118 meters, much past what was supposed to be 70. The doors from the lift opens to the darkness of the holding area, the air stale. Shining his flashlight, he checks to see what's in the room and for those crabs that the lamplighter mentioned. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

17 | The light from the flashlight shows empty husks of crabs on floor but they all seemed to have been purposedly shoved all to the corner of the east side of the room making almost a small hill of carcasses. 19 | Stepping out into the holding area, a foul stench could be fainlty smelled. Is it the dead crabs? Shining the light, the walls and lockers seem to be molding over, the metal warping and dark blots seeping thru the metal. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

39 | The walls here look untouched from the decay, almost unsually brand new and unaging compared to just a few feet west to the holding area's clear deterioration of metals. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
40 | L9 | Lucen turns on the backup generator and as the all the lights flicker on he gets a better view of the corridor and supply area. Why is this area so new looking? Trying not to think about it too much, he returns to what he's being paid to do. Restore the lights. The sound of the generator whirs as the flicker of bright white lights shine overhead. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

42 | The walls all around the supply area have looked to have been patched over many times, likely for years now. Sheets of metal misaligned, different colors from different metals. Not sure what could've required the numerous rebuilds of the wall. It's like it was being constantly barraged by something. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

44 | MemoCommB | Dead crabs were still here like the previous lamplight saw, but instead were all moved to the corner of the west part of the room forming almost a hill of carcasses, like some twisted shapes of shadows casted from my flashlight. The smell was real bad in here too, sour stench that won't leave my nostrils but it couldn't be from the long dead crabs right? I mean many of the walls were molding over, same with the lockers so possibly from that, but the mold seemed different, almost fusing with the metals. I checked the hyperbaric chamber and that was still sealed shut, but the handle showed signs someone trying to break in it, no success. The wash area in the back was lightly flooded, but I quickly fixed that by shutting off one of the valves. Not surprising, supply lockers were all empty, except when I was looking through the last few I heard a loud banging on the door coming from section 1. The ocean makes this place sound creepy, but who the hell was banging on the other side like that? It could be something from the hazard manual, but whatever it was, it stopped for now. Only the deep ocean was left. Well time to continue getting the rest of TEL lights back on. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

51 | Shining his light revealed knocked over desks nearby and on the floor broken glass scattered about and a few sets of damp foot prints trail off chaotically towards the middle of the section. The foot prints is hard to tell if its boots or something else… The shattered glass looks like it came from the open door leading to the armory. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

54 | All the armory lockers here look old, but not rusted and molded over like that supply area at the bottom of the caisson. 57 | It looked like whatever was in here was in a hurry and thrashed the place. Was it a fight? The only remaining item that he spots is peaking out from beneath knocked over lockers and broken benches. It looks to be a flechette gun. With an opportunity to defend himself, he tries to dislodge the gun from the pile. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

59 | Lucen is able to carefully lift the armory lockers just enough to slowly angle the flechette gun out. It looks loaded with a full set of needles still. 75 | To the right Lucen sees a bit of blood not from him, but from the rat as it looks like part of its tail was ripped off as the rat yanked itself out of the fallen lockers. He sees the rat escape into the darkness. As soon as he does, he hears the previous rat running on top of the lockers, a quick, tapping of metal then leaps at Lucen. 81 | Not letting the unfolding situation get the best of him, Lucen inspects the pipe and discovers it only became loose, so not too severe of a leak. 83 | The pipe required much more twisting and maneuvering than expected, the water increasing in flow making it difficult to Lucen to get a grip on it. After a bit, he manages to close it enough that no water looks to be leaking but the time it took the corrosive water burned his hands a bit. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

91 | Some distant sounds could faintly be heard, but it doesn't sound like rats. Sounds more like a low groan that could be from the ocean's currents pressing on TEL022, at least he hopes so. Lucen goes back to module A to leave a transcript. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
92 | MemoCommA | Rats. Watch out for them. I doubt they were the ones that caused the banging I heard earlier, but they are deadly down here. Completely rabid. I found some running about in the monitor room within the armory on the south part of the room closest to this module A. The armory was pretty much bare except for a flechette gun that has a few needles loaded still. I'll leave this somewhere up ahead when I'm done. One of the terminal screens was on in the monitor room that warned of structural damage to TEL's hull somewhere. The screen shut off before I could try and find anything else on the computer, it must've been running on some emergency energy or something. Other than that, tons of glass shards are all over the floor here and at least 3 sets of foot prints chaotically running around and then towards the other end of Section 1. The footprints themselves? From the damp footprints on the ground, I couldn't really tell what made them... I'm gonna continue searching and head to the other half of the section. Something feels off here, or I feel off. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
