BLTFORREST GUMP to hit IMAX theaters this fall!

Since 2014 marks the 20th anniversary of the film’s release, Paramount Pictures has announced that they will be remounting (eh? eh?) the classically epic tale of the Lawn Mower from Greenbow, Alabama in the IMAX format, according to Ryan Gajewski of the Hollywood Reporter.

It is still unclear as to whether the film will be rereleased in regular format theaters or not. I personally hope it is because I don’t much care for IMAX unless it involves James Cameron and the Na’vi.

The film took home 6 of the 13 Academy Awards it was nominated for, including Best Actor for Tom Hanks and Best Director for Robert Zemeckis. The film also showcases notable performances by Gary Sinise as Lieutenant Dan, Sally Field as Forrest’s mother, and Robin Wright - Princess Buttercup herself - as Jenny.

Look out for FORREST GUMP returning to the big screen on September 5th, 2014.

BLTUniversal Pictures’ releases a new TV spot for the upcoming sci-fi thriller LUCY.

The promo premiered this week during the NBA Playoffs (which I’m sure all of us were watching, but if you happened to miss it, there’s a link in the shownotes to Ethan Anderton’s article at FirstShowing.net).

LUCY stars Scarlett Johansson as the eponymous protagonist whose being on the business end of a bad drug deal has enabled to her access parts of her brain that mankind has never reached before. Because of this, she can “knowledge with ease, move things with her mind, see into the future, and [not] feel any pain at all.”

Morgan Freeman also joins Johansson in this story, and it will hopefully cleanse his palate from that floppy Johnny Depp movie TRANSCENDANCE.

LUCY hits theaters July 25th, 2014.

BLTRUMOR MILL: Bryan Singer may not direct the upcoming X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, according to Amber Ryland at Radar.com.

This is because of sexual abuse allegations that have recently risen up against the X-Men director.

20th Century Fox executives have expressed concern that these allegations may have a negative influence on the 2016 sequel to X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST.

Ryland quotes an unnamed insider: “They don’t really care whether he’s innocent or guilty — they’re only concerned with the bottom line, which is giving him another $250 to $350 million to make APOCALYPSE. There have been talks about who else he’d let direct it, with him producing, but those led to heated arguments and walk outs.”

Radar.com is exclusively reporting on the phenomenon, so if you want to follow along with their findings, check out the link in the show notes.

BLTSonic the Hedgehog will finally be racing to theater near you!

Sony Pictures Entertainment and Marza Animation Planet are teaming up to work on a film based on the video game icon - two decades after its dominion on the Sega gaming platforms.

While no director has been brought into the project yet, the script is being written by Evan Susser and Van Robichaux, both of whom are alumni of the Los Angeles based Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre.

To quote Jeff Sneider of TheWrap.com: “The film will look to capture Sonic's irreverent tone and spirit, reuniting him with some of the most revered and infamous characters of the franchise, including the evil Dr. Eggman.”

No word yet on the film’s projected release, but we’ll be keeping our ears open.

mhYou may have made this point previously, but…did you ever notice how the people of the “Capitol” are so obsessed wuth all manner of the tributes’ lives, but have no concern for them as humans or the sacrifices being asked of them? I think of the Capitol as being very similar to the city of “Vanity Fair” in John Bunyan’s “Pilgrim’s Progress.” As Christians I think we need to see every person as a human, made in the image of God whose sin has been paid for by the shedding of Christ’s blood. It sure makes any excuses we might use not to share the gospel wither quickly with the mildest scrutiny. Keep doing what you’re doing guys!
Any chance of seeing a FCiC about the movie “Eragon” or “How to Train Your Dragon”?
