VOLUNTEERS: YOUR ASSIGNMENT IS ON "VOLUNTEERS + SUGGESTIONS"
6
How to populate the database (so far)
7
1. Go to the assigned "best of list" and your assigned segment (e.g. Time-Out Chicago Top 40 restuarants, ranked 16-30)
8
2. Pull up social media: Instagram/Facebook
9
3. Fill out the google form to the best of your ability. Many establishments haven't done anything substantial so you might have a lot of blank answers! THAT'S THEIR FAULT!
10
4. That will populate a seperate spreadsheet that we will verify and transfer over to this main document.
11
5. If you are not able to complete your assigned area NO WORRIES just update the volunteer sheet with what you could complete and what needs to get done.
12
6. Please let us know if you have any ideas, comments or concerns! THIS IS NEW AND NEEDS LOVE! Let's collaborate!
13
7. If you are in another industry or city and want a copy of the database to tweak for your purposes, feel free to reach out!

WHAT/WHY OF ADA COMPLIANCE
16
Up to half of the Black folks killed by Police are disabled. Read more here + here. BLACK DISABLED LIVES MATTER. In order to make sure they are getting informative messages we need to make sure our posts are ADA compliant.
17
Here's a few tips:
18
1. INCLUDE IMAGE DESCRIPTIONS: Write what you see in the post and then either add it to your post or the "alt text"
19
2. MAKE SURE YOUR VIDEO HAS OPEN OR CLOSED CAPTIONING: Check out Clipomatic
20
3. WRITE YOUR HASHTAGS IN CamelCase
21
4. USE EMOJIS SPARINGLY
22
5. AVOID ABLEIST LANGUAGE: "I stand with" replace "crazy" with "wild" and use "non-disabled" and "disabled"
23
6. ADD CONTENT WARNINGS FOR GRAPHIC IMAGES: Stop traumatizing our black and brown friends with violence, we shouldn't need to see the violence to care, we just NEED TO LISTEN.
