This is my first attempt at a character generator spreadsheet, so please be kind – that said, any feedback will be gratefully received at chaomancer@gmail.com Please note, this is me teaching myself how to use spreadsheets as much as anything else – I expect that a lot of this is hideously inefficient as I reinvent the wheel, so advice on easier ways to do the things I've already done will be welcomed too.

On this sheet I'll explain what needs to be done, and keep track of work to do to get where I want. So it will track suggestions I'm actively considering doing, amongst other things.

In general, this generator works by you filling in the green fields, and the rest being calculated from there. I think it's pretty straight forward.

This is where you fill in your character's details. Note: you have to fill in both birth year and graduation year to generate your age at the end of apprenticeship (assumed to be the start of the saga), and thus how much xp you start with. When you are done with character generation, Set FINISHED to Yes, and the sheet will allow you to add xp from play – though keeping track of the seasons and how you earned the xp is currently not supported. At the moment, playing a magus character who has not just graduated can only be done by adding xp from later years as though it were earned in play – it's too complicated for me to work with otherwise!

This sheet also tracks how complete your the other sheets are for you, as best I could figure out how to do it. Well, it will when I get round to putting that back together.

Virtues

Select your character's Virtues here, with options for the different virtues. Simple! For the sake of simplicity, I have assumed a limit of two for taking Virtues multiple times – two Affinity with Ability, two Puissant Arts and so forth. I may go back and extend it to allow more, in case anyone wants more. The current exception is Great Attribute, which allows two different attributes to be taken either once or twice each. Note: If you are taking a virtue that depends on a nameable ability, say Puissant Craft (woodwork) for example, you must name the ability on the Abilities sheet before selecting it from the drop-down list. Now includes custom Virtues, for adding your own (or ones from later books). If this is to grant an Ability, simply copy the Virtue into the Custom Abilities section as well – as long as the fields are identical, you'll get your starting 5xp in the ability

Select your characteristics and their descriptors here. Fully functional, and includes modifiers for Great Characteristics and so forth from Virtues and Flaws.

Tracks your character's abilities. As I mentioned above, it assumes Magi are generated at the end of their apprenticeship, which is my favourite mode of play, and also by far the simplest. If your character hasn't just graduated, simply add xp from the other years to the “In Play” column – you'll have to work it out for yourself though, as it's too complicated for me! :) I may think of a way to add support for experienced Magi later.

The green fields should only appear for abilities you can spend xp on. Also, it should take Affinities into account. If either of those two things don't happen, please let me know.

Here you can enter your spells, including Masteries. They will output on the Grimoire Sheet for printing. It should all be working fine, though there may be some fine-tuning to come... Note that if you have both a Target and a Sense, the sheet presumes you meant the Target and that's what'll output. May track whether a spell is affected by a Focus eventually too.

This sheet allows you to track your mage's laboratory, following the rules from Covenants. It lets you add Virtues and Flaws to your lab, and tracks their effects. Those in italics are ones which have special rules in the book that you'll need to look up. A couple still have detail to add. This is new in version 1.3 of this sheet, so the most likely place to be bugged – let me know if you find any!
