"BGSO Makes a Splash!"

The Fall 2026 Concert will feature Water-themed games, or sections where water is a primary factor. Examples include games at sea, underwater, water temples, beaches, island nations, and rainy settings. There are plenty of options that will make this different than the Vacations Concert!

Carian Queen (Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon + other pieces interpolated)Elden RingJoan Butler5 minsYRennala is the major boss of Liurnia of the Lakes, Elden Ring's water-themed area. During Phase 2 of her boss fight, she transports the player to an endless plane of water to finish their battle, making it one of the wettest boss fights in the game.Timberborn

1The Price of Doing BusinessShovel Knight: Specter of TormentColin Parlett4 minsNThe Iron Whale is a massive submarine belonging to Treasure Knight, and the stage itself is an homage to Mega Man water levels. In the original Shovel Knight, the Iron Whale's music was "A Thousand Leagues Below", written by guest composer Manami Matsumae, composer of the original Mega Man. "The Price of Doing Business", however, comes from Specter of Torment, the tragic prequel starring Specter Knight. As such, the theme is much less laid-back, with the melody being transforming from a floaty and buoyant line to an intense and desparate struggle through the fortified submarine. (This is THE SONG that made me want to pitch the Water theme.)Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future

9The Great SeaThe Legend of Zelda: The Wind WakerAlex DonaldsonTBDNThe overworld in Wind Waker is, famously, mostly ocean that must be sailed across to explore and complete your quest. This is an arrangement of the music that plays when sailing across that expanse.Abzu: "Then Were Created The Gods In The Midst Of Heaven" (for MegaChoir)

11Deference for Darkness, Another RainHalo 3: ODSTTyler BramboraTBDLikely no, but TBDAfter the opening cutscene sets the scene, your first steps in your characters' shoes are taking a several story fall to the ground level of a destroyed megacity, the sky is full of clouds, ash, and radiation, with a distinct reddish-yellow and green glow centering around what remains of a once towering space elevator, there are fires burning in the distance, it's the middle of the night, and your only companions on the Rookie's journey? Smooth noir jazz, and rain, lots of rain. Rain is a key part in establishing the tone of Halo 3: ODST's story. It's a centerpiece in nearly all of the game's marketing, is present throughout the Rookie's levels, greeting you with a fresh solemn piano or saxophone piece whenever you return to the overworld. I'd venture that more people know of the iconic rainy nighttime citiscapes of ODST than they do the other climates present within the game.Dredge - "The Door (Drowned)"

12Black Flag Sea ShantiesAssassin's Creed Black FlagRob Glass (maybe Tad too?)3-4 minutesMegachoir! They're sea shanties! Sung by pirates, on boats! The current list is: Randy-Dandy Oh, Leave her Johnny, All for me Grog, Drunken Sailor, about 45 seconds-minute of eachAbyssus

13Dance with the Great VortexGenshin ImpactBrennon Conner3-4 minutesUpdate: Yes! I have added in a choir arrangement! Still working on lyrics, but it will likely end up being primarily Mandarin with a few bits of Latin

TBD (not in the original score, but I might add in choir!)
This is the climax of the Liyue chapter (the second region) of the main story, where you fight against Osial, the Overlord of the Vortex - an ancient god of the sea embodied as a 5-headed hydra-like water monster (it is quite literally made of seawater). The fight itself takes place amidst the tempest it summons to consume the nation, and is very JRPG in terms of scale. Easily one of my all-time favorite pieces from this game, I especially like how it uses heavily articulated string voices to indicate the storm itself alongside quiter sections that primarily feature woodwinds to make an almost "underwater" sound. It is worth mentioning that this is fairly fast-paced and written in 5/4 (mostly), but I feel that we are more than capable to pull it off! :)

14Set SailOld School RuneScapeRiley Zielinski3-ish minprobably noOSRS just released their newest game expansion, which added Sailing to the list of available skills to train. The Sailing skill involves building your own boat and sailing around the world charting landmarks, fighting sea creatures, shipping cargo, and completing challenges. This piece is one of the first songs you unlock when starting to train the skill, and plays ambiently while exploring the ocean around the starting area.Donkey Kong Country - "Aquatic Ambiance" - THE MOISTEST

Nintendogs - "Bath Time" (see also the Super Smash Bros. remix for a vocal version)
38
TBD - Azur Lane SuiteAzur LaneJames Via~4 minYAzur Lane is about anthropomorphized warships from the WW1-2 era. It encapsulates water and the sea in every battle - as a side scrolling shoot-em-up / deck builder / gacha game. It also encapsulates the alternate theme of wet teeheeClair Obscur: Expedition 33 - Is it a Gestral or a Volleyball

Porgy MedleyUFO 50Tom Miller4 minNOverture-esque medley of the area themes from the submarine exploration game Porgy (and a little bit of Divers b/c they're connected and both quite wet)
42
Flying Waters: GobluClair Obscur: Expedition 33Sam Inverts3 minMegachoirFrom the "Flying Waters" section of the game, which is a setting that looks like you're wandering around at the bottom of the ocean. Some of the enemies have underwater mines, which they hold like balloons, there are weird corals, cuttlefish, and whales. Devotion Ending Theme • No Party For Cao Dong
43
Then Were Created the Gods in the Midst of HeavenAbzûBrennon Conner< 4 minsMegachoirThis piece is from the game Abzû, which is about as water-themed as one can get from a game, and is meant to be performed completely a capella (thus, Megachoir!) Part of what's drawn me to this song is how it ebbs and flows with it's chord progressions, giving it a very aquatic and etheral feel, almost as though you're sinking deeper into a place of otherworldly beauty. This is the second piece I plan to arrange for the season, so long as the Megachoir bounty is still live! :)
