| Measurements | Key | Updates | Fabric Composition Guide
| Waist | I measure 28", but I wear 26" in jeans. I am generally a 4 or 6 in pants (approx.) | Tried but did not buy Tried and did buy Not able to try | 07/07/2019 - added a new Silver Jeans purchase - updated info on my previous purchases (Madewell, AGOLDE in black) - fabric composition guide | 97-100% cotton | These will generally stretch a full size. Get the ones that you can squeeze on and that are snug and they will loosen up for you. Generally size down in waist size to achieve this. Personal note: I stay away from new 100% cotton jeans. I've become very grateful for even a small % of elastane because it helps the smaller waist jeans get up over my thighs and butt.
| Hips | Measure 40". Hips and butt. | < 94-95% cotton, 1-2% elastane | These will stretch out half a size. Get the size that is comfortable and they will loosen up a bit but still fit. Generally your true size.
| Inseam | 29 or 30" is perfect, 28" is not too cropped. | 3-4% elastane | These are very stretchy and may loosen up a full size. If you do not tuck anything into your jeans, I suggest sizing down as long as they are still comfortable because they will stretch out a bit naturally, especially at the waist. If you're tucking thicker material tops in regularly, stay true to size.

| Previous Jeans | Levi's 721 (black, dark blue, medium blue). Very durable, very comfortable, but did not fit my waist. When I bought them 4 years ago I just didn't know how jeans should fit. I still recommend them if they fit you!

| Brand | Model | Wash (Colour) | Relevant Measurements | Comments
| American Eagle | Ne(x)t Level High Waisted Jegging | Proper Black | Rise 10 1/4" Inseam 31" (varies) | - too thin - slight waist gapping
| AG | Farrah | Grey mist | Rise 9.75" Inseam 30" | - I tried a 27 and it was several too sizes too big at the waist. (???) - Going down a size or two would mean not fitting over thighs. - Too much rayon in the fabric - Not high enough rise
| Old Navy | Built-in Sculpt | Black | Rise 10-10.5" ? unclear Inseam (varies) | - Fit super strangely. Too tight some places, too loose others. Too thin.
| Topshop | Jamie | Black | Rise 10-10.5" ? unclear Inseam (varies) | - Actually fit really well, but too thin for me! More jegging-like. Expected for the price, honestly.
| Citizens of Humanity | Chrissy | Hotline (medium blue) | Rise 11.25" Inseam 29" | - LOVE THESE. Beautiful, thick, quality denim, high enough rise in front and back. - The only problem is these are slightly too small for my thighs, and as a result I can't pull them up quite high enough. I still wear them anyway all the time, but keep that in mind when you try them.
| "" | Moon Dance (gray) | "" | - Very similar to the above. I tried them on and they had the same thigh problem so I passed.
| "" | Black | "" | - These are NOT similar and it's because they're 40% rayon. Much too soft and although I could get them on, it caused this big wrinkle across each of my thighs that the other Chrissys did not have due to being a thicker, sturdier fabric.
| Olivia | Black | Rise 11.25" Inseam 28" | - This is called a slim model but is a skinny with a slightly wider leg opening. - I could not even get these over my thighs.
| Olivia (Premium Vintage line) | Licorice | Rise 11.25" Inseam 28" | - These have the same model name as the other Olivias, but are different. You can tell the difference by looking at them only - the Premium Vintage Olivias have a leather patch on the back, and say Premium Vintage in cursive in a tag inside on the back. - These have much more room in the thighs and butt and did not have the same problem as the Chrissys for me. - BUY A SIZE DOWN. They are 98% cotton and stretch out a full size.
| AGOLDE | Roxanne | Freeway (medium blue) | Rise 11.5" Inseam 28" | - These are excellent. Thick, quality denim just like CoH (AGOLDE is owned by CoH). - Very similar to my Hotline Chrissy (exact same pocket shape, for example) but fits better in the thighs. - I would straight up label these as a curvy cut.
| Roxanne | Black | Rise 11.5" Inseam 28" | - I kind of bought these blind because the Freeway fit so well, even knowing that the fabric composition was different between the two colours. I ordered to the store from Aritzia while they were on sale and we all know their return policy. - They fit very well but are much too thin. This seems to be common with black jeans for whatever reason. - Have not had much chance to wear them yet, but I'll still make as much use of them as I can. update 07/07/2019: I have been wearing these a lot and I'm happy with them! I think they will fade a bit quicker than I'd like but that seems to be the nature of high cotton % black jeans, unfortunately. Like my Madewell jeans, I sometimes wish I had a size 25 instead of 26 because these are 4% elastane and stretch a lot. If I'm tucking something thick in though it's fine, which I do about half the time.
| Abercrombie & Fitch | Simone | Rinse wash (dark blue) | Rise 10.5" Inseam (varies) | - These were very deceptive. I bought a 26 and 27, and at first I thought the 27 fit well, so I took the tags off then washed them to rinse out the dye, wore them once, and they were too big and sliding down, so I ended up having to take the tags off the 26 which was slightly tight, and wore them instead. - They fit very well in the thighs and hips/butt, lots of room there. The only problem is they are too tight in the knees? Maybe meant for a slimmer 26, even though they do happen to have the room in the thighs and hips. The knees bother me too much to keep wearing these so that's an unfortunate loss of money. - They are a bit thin, but not as bad as Old Navy or Topshop.
| Urban Outfitters | BDG Twig High Rise | Black | Rise 11" Inseam (varies) | - Too thin. - Did not fit across thighs and hips. Wrinkling, too tight. Waist gap in the back.
| Silver Jeans | Avery (they have lots of curvy lines!) | Indigo | Rise 9.5" Inseam (varies) | - I really loved these, honestly. Perfectly thick, fit so well, good quality, good price. Unfortunately just 1/2" - 1" too low a rise. - However they have recently come out with higher rise curvy jeans that I have not tried! (in different cuts/colours). Definitely check them out and I would buy without hesitation if I saw a skinny in a wash I like. (update 07/07/2019: I did buy them! see below)
| Calley | Indigo | Rise 11" (I think more like 10.5") Inseam (varies) | - I think Silver Jeans listened to my review of the Avery, because these are very similar to the Avery in Indigo, just with a higher rise and different fabric %. - Sizing: I had to go two sizes down! I ended up in a 24 with these. - Fabric %: the cotton is a little lower than I prefer, but the price and fit are just so right. It still feels like thicker denim anyway. - These are the best out of all my jeans for thigh room, even at size 24.
| Joe's Jeans | Honey High Rise | Merina | Rise 10" Inseam 29" | - I could not get these over my thighs. Straight up. I don't understand how they are a curvy cut at all. Maybe I got a weird pair?
| Madewell | High Rise Curvy | Lucille | Regular inseam says 28", but is more like 29" Inseam (varies) | - Love these so far. Really thick for a dark wash. - Fit the bottom half and the waist well. - Unclear on durability for now, haven't had the chance to wear them much. update 07/07/2019: The zipper broke on these after a few weeks...come on Madewell. I'm glad I got these on sale or I would be more upset. On sizing, sometimes I wish I had gotten a size down, because these have 4% elastane, which allows for a lot of stretch, even at the wasit. If I'm tucking a thicker shirt in, the 26 is fine, but if not I wish I had the 25.
| Mother | Looker? | - Unfortunately can't remember what exact model these were, I think the Looker, and in some kind of blue colour. They didn't fit the thighs very well, and there was some waist gapping. But nice material. Don't consider this a full review since I can't remember well.
| Levi's | Mile High Super Skinny | Black | Rise 11.5" Inseam 30" ? | - Just didn't fit. Too tight in the thighs, pulling across the hips.
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Good American | Good Waist, Good Legs, Good Curve | Varied high rises varied inseams | - Looks really good, unfortunately not available in Canada to try : ( - Pay attention to the fabric content, they're all over the board
| Gap | Curvy | - A quality high-rise is rare, lots of mid-rises
| Guess | Curve X, Sexy Curve | - Curve X is mid-rise, Sexy Curve not a nice blue (online)
