PURPOSE: To confirm that the horse demonstrates correct basics, and having achieved the thrust required in First Level, now accepts more weight on the hindquarters (collection); moves with an uphill tendency, especially in the medium gaits; and is reliably on the bit. A greater degree of straightness, bending, suppleness, throughness, balance and self-carriage is required than at First Level.RIDER #5993-1

COLLECTIVE MARKSPOINTSTOTALREMARKS
37
1GAITS (Freedom and regularity)717MNG gaits only.. needs power. must be in front of the leg.. it takes impulsion and energy for a horse to be round and engaged... it is not SLOW it is powerfully ACTIVE.
38
2IMPULSION (Desire to move forward; elasticity of the steps; suppleness of the back; engagement of the hindquarters)5210today this horse was in INACTIVE QWORKI
39
3SUBMISSION (Willing cooperation; harmony; attention and confidence; acceptance of bit and aids; straightness; lightness of forehand and ease of movements)428must be active and on the bit at this level ( not meeting the requirements today)
40
4RIDER’S POSITION AND SEAT (Alignment; posture; stability; weight placement; following mechanics of the gaits)515need to get thigh down and back and lower leg more in position ( currently slight chair seat), need independent seat and more elastic effect rein aids, hands closer together and more correctly placed
41
5RIDER’S CORRECT AND EFFECTIVE USE OF AIDS (Clarity; subtlety; independence; accuracy of test)414see submission
42
this is a kinly quiet horse and rider is obviously developing: Rider needs independent seat and arms, more effective 1.2 hals and shorter reins with lower hands. go back to riding "on the bit" and lots of transitions,, keeping the horse round. If you are not on the bit at this level you do not meet the requirements.. there is no point in doing shoulder-in etc off the bit. this horse must be asked to stay round. If you asked my opinion : I would lunge him in side reins 2-3 days a week for 10 minutes to get his muscle used to staying round without weight and to be sure he would stay active and forward. riders can improve their own alignment and equitastion with more supervision or lunge lessons. You can do this but you must go forward and get on the bit. good luck!
