TRAM MUSEUM
2
19th February
3
• At least one tram will be operating and this is fair game for photos.
• The tram barn will be open also which houses the operational trams not running that day, one of the old cable cars and it's trailer, displays and a video - also fair game for photos.
• Access to the sheds and workshop is fine as long as the groups aren't too big (we can split into two if it's popular) and someone from the museum accompanies them (Dave Patterson). We just have to be careful in these areas as they are not designed for public access. These areas house the trams, trolley buses and spare parts for future restorations, i.e. in an original run-down state. The workshop is just that and also contains tram #207 which is being restored currently.
• Everyone that goes buys a ticket for a tram ride ($12 for an adult - valid all day). The museum is volunteer-run and depends on ride-revenue to keep operating.
• We meet at outside of the clubrooms at 10.30am and convoy up to the Tram Museum, or people can just meet us up there at 11.00am.
• Bring some food with you, as there’s nothing to buy in the park. We can then drive or walk to the reserve by the beach/river mouth, where there are some tracks flankekd with flaxes in flower, and some blackberries in case you forget your lunch.
• Visit the lagoon/wetlands area next to the memorial and may be some horses in the paddocks adjacent.
