In this workbook we'll take a set of data and 'unpivot' it to get like values into a single column.

First of all we'll do it in the old-fashioned way (method 1), building a coordinate map using column and row headers, and formulae which will work in both Google Sheets and Excel.

Then we'll look at a couple of other methods:

Monkey Tennis (method 2), which uses the Google-only functions of ARRAYFORMULA and QUERY,

and FLATTENed Pancake (method 3), which simplifies things further by using another Google-only function called FLATTEN.

Unpivoting is even easier in Excel, thanks to the Query Editor.
