No experience neccesary. However, a passion/ interest in thing outlined in the description is important as well as a level of commitment to the role (just be aware that things can get busy as editor in chief in particular).No experience needed to become a section editor.
Just a passion for the position you are running for! There is no minimum amount of articles that need to be written (although writing for your section/ any section as and when you can is encouraged). Generally, all section editors normally:

- Come up with story ideas for their section and stay up to date with current events/ trends that are related to their section
- help writers with developing pitches into stories
- edit pieces submitted by writers in line with our style guide (you will receive training)
- Come to society meetings

Below are vague descriptions but section editors can come up with their own ideas about their section, too! This is a way for you to try and explore what you enjoy and what works well.
No managing experience/ previous experience needed for the below but you should have an interest within the area you are applying for (social media, admin, events organising, fundraising)

Editor in ChiefFocuses on overseeing the section editors, organising regular meetings and pushing the direction of the paper towards new heights. Head of the paper and a great position for someone who is motivated (and doesn't mind a little admin). Helps subeditor with editing, and any other editors/ managers as issues arise.NewsSources stories on current events that impact students, glasgow news, general news. Works together with Local Democracy reporter. Social Media ManagerManages all social media presence and communications. Schedules posts, creates online community

SubeditorOversees publication of final pieces on WordPress/ of pieces going into print edition, check they are in line with Strath Union media policy and paper's style guide. This is a great one for your CV when it comes to applying for editorial roles, as you'll show awareness in media law and editing skills.Local Democracy Reporter (Strath Union)Build relatonships with Strath Union, reports on things happening within student politics (news and feaures), university events. Works together with News Editor.Events ManagerThink of events we can run as a societty (socials, educationa), assist fundraising manager in organising fundraising events. Able to create fun events for journalism students and other students looking to get involved with student journalism.

Environment/ ScienceReports on climate, environment, science related topics (news , features, op-eds)Fundraising ManagerResponsible for reaching out to potential donors, help EiC with organising advertising, create fundraising campaigns (bake sales, gofundme etc), liase with other societies to organise joint fundraising

Culture (Film, TV, Books, Arts, Culture)Reports on the performing arts, travel, film, television, books. Liases with PRs for press tickets for theatre and cinema, review copies for books, comedy shows. Also manages creative writing submissions by our writers.

Tech and GamingReports on tech (apps, games, gadgets ...) and gaming.

LifestyleLifestyle can cover a broad range of things including travel, relationships, life hacks/ advice, advice pieces, health, horoscopes (SO MUCH SCOPE HERE!). Pitches news, features and op-eds.

FoodFood/ restaurants around glasgow, news/ features on trends and recipes, student favourites. Liases with PRs for reviews/ interviews

Fashion and BeautyReports on fashion and beauty (trends, current debates, favourite tools/ looks, spotted at strathcyde..) (news , features, op-eds)

SportCovers sport generally but also university sport. Builds relationships with Strath Sport, VP Sport, and sports teams at Strathcyde. Liasies with teams/ PRs to get tickets for sporting events

MultimediaComes up with Multimedia ideas (videos for youtube channel, podcast ideas....). Works with Social media manager on what content works well for social media.
