Recommendations for 18Xs Awaiting Contract and Ship Date
3
4
This is a guideline only. Workout as you see fit. These are our considerations in producing this program:
5
1. You do not need to be in SFAS shape when you ship out.
6
2. It will be at least 30 days and possibly closer to 90 days before you ship.
7
Your first phase is 5 months of infantry school, and 5 months is a long time to prepare.
8
Given the above, you will not hit SF Preparation and Conditioning for 6-9 months from today.
9
3. Currently available programs are marketed to everyone, but they are designed for candidates with baseline ruck experience who are gearing up for SFAS in 3-6 months.
10
You do not fall into the above category.
11
You are either working a job or attending school while working through the enlistment process.
12
Following a program that will peak you into SFAS shape during this time is not necessary nor is it necessarily feasible depending on your current schedule and experience level.
13
4. You are guaranteed to not earn a Green Beret if you get hurt and discharged prior to shipping.
14
15
This program is focused on building a base of strength and speed prior to shipping, and then using that base to perform a ruck-focused training program while at infantry school.

Pre-Ship Program
19
See next slide for pre-ship program.
20
If you are overweight or severly lacking in cardio capacity, we recommend you add 1-2 low impact cardio sessions (i.e. elliptical machine) to the program.

Infantry School Program
23
Important notes about your preparation during infantry school.
24
It will NOT prepare you for SFAS. If you only do what you are made to do during Infantry school, you will likely fail the first week of SF Preparation and Conditioning.
25
You are given free time during Infantry School and you MUST use that time to train.
26
You are unlikely to have access to weight training.
27
You will need to put together a program that consists of some combination of the following:
28
Rucking and running around the compound as allowed by cadre.
29
Ruck squats, lunges, and stairs.
30
Pushups, pullups, and core.
31
Farmers Carry: Find something to continue to develop your grip strength even if its your ruck.
32
18Xs that use their free time to train have SFAS selection rates on par with everyone else. Those that do not train during Infantry School typically do not even make it to SFAS.
