Update on 3/20: given that the governor is going to announce a "shelter-in-place" policy, it is not yet clear how this will affect industries and jobs other than those that deal with food and medical supplies. Let's keep each other informed about that here.

They aim for geographic coverage down to tract level (about a four block area in most parts of the city), so if/when someone gets hired is fairly dependent on how many applicants there are in their immediate area. Applicants with full time availability, who are able to work days, nights, and weekends are most likely to get hired; no one minds if after hiring/training it turns out you aren't quite so available. A person who has waited a long time to hear back may want to go back into their application and update availability.

Emergency Support Staff (Temp)Connections for the HomelessEvanstonRequirements: diploma or GED. Preferred year experience working with homeless or poor populations.

The COVID 19 Emergency Support Staff member will provide frontline and back-up support to both
current and temporary Connections for the Homeless programs to ensure adequate staffing is available
and a safe environment is provided for all participants. At this time, Connections for the Homeless is
staffing several shelter-in-place sites so that individuals and families without COVID 19 symptoms who
are experiencing homelessness and have nowhere else to go can be in a safe place for the duration of
the crisis, or until they need a higher level of care.
The shelter-in-place sites include two local hotels and an emergency shelter in MacLeish Hall at the Lake
Street Church, intended for people who have not yet been placed in hotel rooms or whom we cannot
place in hotel rooms for various reasons. We have moved people from our year-round transitional
shelter, Hilda’s Place, to hotel rooms for the duration of the crisis.		$15/hour
