About the project
6
This document has been created as part of the Aligning Heritage Science to the Science Curricula project, commissioned by the National Archives (TNA) and the National Heritage Science Forum (NHSF) and conducted by consultants Tom Briggs, Catherine Holden and Steve Bennett. It is a result of an interrogation of the primary age curricula for science in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales combined with qualitative data from heritage scientists and educators.

It is intended to show where heritage science processes and concepts most align with science topics and objectives taught at primary level in the UK, with the overarching aim of increasing school children's engagement with heritage science. The Matrix: Aligning Heritage Science Processes to UK Science Curricula is best used together with and in the context of the accompanying report, which can be found at [link to be added once report is published].

Using this document
8
This document is comprised of three sheets, accessible via the tabs below. The Matrix shows heritage science processes as row headings and science curriculum topics as column headings. Numbers in the cells refer to curriculum objectives which have been identified as having potential relevance to particular heritage science activities. Hovering over these numbers (when using the desktop version of the matrix) will cause specific curriculum objective text to pop up. Clicking on the link that appears will take you to the relevant entry in the list of curriculum objectives in the NC Objectives sheet. Alternatively, the numbers and nation codes can be cross-referenced to the NC Objectives tab manually.
