National Association of Asian American Professionals Boston Future Leader Award ScholarshipThe National Association of Asian American Professionals - Boston Chapter (NAAAP Boston) is pleased to present our 2020 Future Leader Award Scholarship to recognize outstanding high school seniors who have demonstrated leadership qualities inside and outside of the classroom. All applications will be reviewed and judged based on: Leadership Experience, Community Service, Academic Achievement, Extracurricular Activities, Essay Responses (reflecting thoughtfulness and effort), and Financial Need. Tau Beta Beta, Inc. ScholarshipTau Beta Beta Scholarships are available to young women residing in Brookline, Newton, or Wellesley. Scholarships are awarded to four or five new applicants per year, and financial support normally continues through four years. Scholarships are based on merit and financial need. The Boston Pearl Foundation, Inc. ScholarshipAn applicant must be a Massachusetts resident who identifies as a student of African descent, including but not limited to students that identify as black, African-American, Afro-Carribbean, Afro-Latino, or having any Afro-disaporic roots. Applicants must be in their senior year of high school applying to Fall 2020 admission into an accredited four-year college/university. An applicant’s cumulative grade point average (GPA) must not be lower than a “B” between Grade 9 through the most recent grading period/semester. All students who meet the requirements above can apply to the scholarship, regardless of gender.The monetary amount of the 2020 Scholarship Award may range from $1,000 to $3,000. Charles W. Eliot II Scholarship The Metropolitan Area Planning Council annually presents a scholarship award in memory of Charles W. Eliot II. Mr. Eliot was an advocate of local planning as part of regional cooperation, and he was especially interested in land use planning as it affected transportation (coordination of trains, buses, cars, bicycles, and pedestrians), the need for communities to balance residential, business and open space, and the role of planning to solve modern problems (like today’s climate change). This scholarship is open to any senior in a secondary school in the 101 cities and towns of the MAPC region, who is planning to further his/her/their education in these fields. A cash prize of at least $500 will be awarded in the form of a scholarship to the school of the recipient's choice. Murphy ScholarshipThe Massachusetts Association of Women in Law Enforcement (MAWLE) is pleased to offer a scholarship award, in the amount of $1000, to be awarded to a female high school senior who is pursuing a career in law enforcement or criminal justice. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen, a resident of Massachusetts for at least the past two years, and has maintained a minimum of a 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship FundThe Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund offers renewable, four-year scholarships to students with financial need who display academic achievement, a commitment to serving others (in school, their community, or at home), a strong work ethic, and leadership qualities. It is suggested that applicants begin the application as soon as they have received their financial aid package from the college of their choice so that recommenders have ample time to submit their information. As soon as an applicant enters a recommender’s information in the application and saves the application, an email is sent directly to the recommender with a link to a personalized recommendation form for the student. Recommender materials are due May 4, 2020. The application deadline for high school seniors is 12:00 p.m. on May 1st, 2020.
