 detail pulled from each school's own admissions page (course length, lab requirement, and which

 alternate courses satisfy a requirement).

Key patterns worth knowing:

 • Optometry differs from dental/medical prereqs in one big way: MATH is almost universal.

 Nearly every US school wants BOTH a semester of Calculus AND a semester of Statistics
12
 (a few, like SUNY and Northeastern State OK, will accept Pre-Calculus or College Algebra instead
13
 of true Calculus — check the Calculus column's wording per school).

 • Psychology (usually 'Introductory/General Psychology,' 1 course) is required at nearly every
15
 US school — this is unusual compared to dental/med and is worth knocking out early.

 • Where a broader 'Social Science' or 'Humanities' elective is required (not just Psychology),
17
 schools are typically flexible — Illinois College of Optometry explicitly lists anthropology,
18
 sociology, economics, political science, or an extra psychology course as acceptable options.

 • Biochemistry & Microbiology — required at most, but not all, schools (Rocky Mountain and a few
20
 others skip one or both) — usually 1 semester, lab usually not required.

 • Waterloo (Canada) is unusual in requiring Ethics as a named prerequisite alongside Psychology.
