16 | Privacy regulators in the European Union agreed to a new set of guidelines that would apply the EU's right-to-be-forgotten censorship to all versions of Google worldwide. The rules would apply to other search engines as well. They also called for censoring the search engine company's own communication, placing a gag order on them and preventing them from notifying the sites that have been affected by this censorship on a routine basis. | http://ec.europa.eu/justice/data-protection/files/factsheets/factsheet_data_protection_en.pdf | http://online.wsj.com/articles/eu-says-google-should-extend-right-to-be-forgotten-to-com-websites-1417006254
17 | Sam Schechner is a Tech correspondent for The Wall Street Journal Q: On what legal basis does Europe believe it can censor a foreign search engine company in countries outside Europe?
18 | * What might the penalties be for non-compliance? * Why does Europe want to stop Google from telling web sites that their index has been made inaccurate in a way that affects the ability of people to find their sites? * once the precedent is set, what's to stop fascist dictatorships and authoritarian governments from censoring worldwide by placing restrictions on Google? * According to four court precedents, search engine results are constitutionally protected speech. What is the US government doing to protect US citizens and a US company from this potential censorship? * cen·sor·ship = "the practice of officially examining books, movies, etc., and suppressing unacceptable parts." * wsj: regulators in Germany, France and the U.K. = 440 complaints about Google’s implementation * 174,000 people have asked Google to remove of more than 600,000 links * Google has removed about 42%

In fact, news of the talks was accidentally revealed by Twitter CFO Anthony Noto, who tweeted publically what he thought was a private DM. His Tweet said: "I still think we should buy them. He is on your schedule for Dec 15 or 16 -- we will need to sell him. I have a plan." From there, CNBC found a source close to Shots that provided more information. 68 | We told you Monday about a European parliament resolution that includes an option to break up Google. Now the New York Times is reporting that the author of that resolution, whose name is Andreas Schwab, works for the German law firm CMS Hasche Sigle, which has represented some of the German publishing companies that are so vexed about Google. A disclosure filing shows that he earns between $15,000 to $75,000 annually from the law firm. While such ties are illegal in the United States, they are allowed in Europe, although European law requires that they be disclosed. Schwab claims that his resolution is "based on a neutral assessment of the facts," and not on the interest of his law firm's clients. The nonbinding resolution comes up for a vote on Thursday. * * * | http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/11/26/european-legislator-urging-the-breakup-of-google-has-ties-to-a-law-firm/
