|Ding, dong the deal is dead! Comcast this morning announced that they're ending their $45 billion bid for Time Warner Cable, after getting stiff resistance from both the Department of Justice and the Federal Communications Commission. The combined companies would have controlled 57 percent of the nation’s broadband market and just under 30 percent of pay television service in an industry that's conspicuous for a lack of competition in most markets. Attorney General Eric Holder called it a "victory not only for the Department of Justice.” FCC chairman Tom Wheeler was more politic, and said that the killing of the deal was best for consumers.||http://corporate.comcast.com/news-information/news-feed/comcast-twc-charter-transactions-terminated||http://www.nytimes.com/2015/04/25/business/media/comcast-time-warner-cable-deal.html|

|The gadget repair tool and parts company iFixit did another one of their famous tear-downs. This time, they flew to Australia where it's the future to tear apart a brand-new Apple Watch.||https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Apple+Watch+Teardown/40655|
|Joining us to talk about the teardown is iFixit Teardown Engineer, Jeoff Wacker. |
Q: After taking the Apple Watch apart, what are you overall impressions about the hardware engineering involved in the device?
Teardown Engineer, iFixit
|* S1 processor|
* battery = 205 milliampere-hours (other smartwatches have around 300)
* Taptic Engine = spring-loaded motor that goes back in forth in a straight line.
* speaker attached to Taptic Engine
* mystery door behind band enclosure with six copper connectors; possible diagnostic port
* battery easily replaceable
* S1 processor is not; encased in resin; even pen knife couldn't budge it
* smallest screws ever seen by iFixit; had to file down their smallest screwdriver
* rare tri-wing screws
* heart rate monitor = plethysmograph; works like a pulse oximeter; blood oxygen
* blood oxygen function not enabled; may turn it on with software after FDA approval

|The CEO of the Italian Eyewear Maker Luxottica, Massimo Vian, said today that his company is building a new version of Google Glass, but didn't say when it might ship. He said Luxottica's products will represent version 2 of the device -- the only one we've seen to date is version 1. He also suggested that Google is already working on version 3, which might be a whole new interpretation of the concept. * * *||http://www.engadget.com/2015/04/24/luxottica-working-on-google-glass-2/|

|Google's Android mascot, the Android robot, was discovered in Google's Map's map of Pakistan urinating on the Apple Logo. To the best of my knowledge, nobody can figure out who put it there or how. Google itself is really sorry, and remove the image. But it raises even more questions about Google's quality control when it comes to Maps. Last week someone was able to add a Google Maps listing for "Edwards Snow Den" to the White House. We talked about it on the latest episode of This Week in Google.||http://www.androidcentral.com/sites/androidcentral.com/files/styles/larger/public/article_images/2015/04/android-urinate-apple-google-maps.jpg|
