The Colorado Academic Standards (CAS) help teachers ensure their students have the knowledge and skills needed to be on the pathway toward college or career readiness. The CCSD Scope and Sequence identifies the Grade Level Expectations (GLE) and Evidence Outcomes (EO) by trimester/quarter providing goals for student learning at each grading period.

The Grade Level Expectations and Evidence Outcomes identified through the CCSD Scope and Sequence establish
what students learn, but they do not identify how teachers should teach. The intent of the Scope and Sequence is to provide teacher teams a starting point for collaboration and unit planning.

The 2020 Colorado Academic Standards identify which Grade Level Expectations (GLEs) and evidence outcomes (EO) are major, supporting, and additional work. GLEs are the big ideas/understandings of the 2020 Colorado Academic Standards. Not all content is emphasized equally in the standards. Some grade level expectations require greater emphasis than others based on the depth of ideas, the time that they take to master, and/or their importance to future mathematics. To say that some things have greater emphasis is not to say that anything in the standards can safely be neglected in instruction. Neglecting material will leave gaps in student skill and understanding which may leave students unprepared for the challenges of a later grade.

As shown below, the Grade Level Expections (GLEs) are underlined and color-coded which hyperlink to the Colorado Academic Standards (CAS). The Evidence Outcomes (EO) are below the GLEs and describe what students should know and be able to do in order to demonstrate understanding of the above GLE. The GLEs and EOs are grouped by Major, Supporting, and Additional work and connect to the larger content focus.

* The GLEs/EOs are not in a sequential order and certain GLEs/EOs may appear in multiple trimesters as students build towards mastery of the concepts.
