I started with Ernie Floyd on 02 July 22 @ 0601. I carried a Garmin In Reach one Garmin Fenix 7X and one Fenix 6X as a back up. Took one nap at Towns Pass for about 1:30. I reached Whitney Portal at 48:05:12 . Then reached the summit at 57:10:50 . Unfortunately when I tried to sync my 2 watches something happen, only one file got uploaded to Strava and it was my backup Fenix 6X that died at mi 143.54. My Fenix 7x won’t uplode to Strava, but is on Garmin Connect. There is some glitch that doesn’t show time and average pace, but if you scroll down to “ Timing “
You will see that my Elapsed time was 63:50:44.

Just wanting to share that on the 10th of July (perhaps 11th) myself and Will Laughlin will attempt our second north to south crossing of Death Valley National Park completely off-road. Our 2021 route will be similar with some modifications of our 2011 route, and we will rely on caches at specific waypoints along the way. Distance ranges from 10-20km between resupplies, and we will mostly travel through the center of the Valley. Resupply caches will be at vehicle accessible points, like West Side Rd, for example.
Total distance of the route is 250km, give or take a few km.
We will be carrying inReach and Spot trackers, as well as gps to record route.
As we did on all of our previous off road crossings (2011 n to s, 2016 north to Badwater, and our 2019 west to east crossing), we will respect the environment and leave absolutely no trace.

Permits to Whitney have been obtained and at this time I am supported by my wife Lily, an 8 time Badwater crew member including support in a Double 135. My son Stephen, a 3 time Badwater crew member including support in a Double 135 and his girlfriend Jazzy who will be supporting for the first time. I am still working on getting an additional 2 crew members. If all goes well I plan to summit Whitney Monday morning in the presence of Jakob Herrman who will also be announcing his intentions within the next couple of days

With this email, I'd like to announce my intention to run a supported Badwater 146 starting Friday July 23, 2021, at 6:00 AM.

Dan Marinsik and I will be at that starting line together and start at the same time but we both will have our own support crew so if we need to separate during the run we can do that.

We have the permits to climb Mt. Whitney too on Monday. Dan and I will summit Mt. Whitney together all the way.

I will be supported by my wife Linda, who has crewed me at many of my 26 100 milers I've done so far and she knows me very, very well. A very good friend of mine, Leo, is joining her and I'm still looking for 3 more crew members.

I plan to have Spot tracking and a Garmin, have an observer (possibly multiple), and will document the journey in detail with photos, video etc. I will follow all original and modified rules in both letter and spirit.

For background, I am a 3x Badwater 135 finisher, 2x Marathon Des Sables finisher, Desert RATS finisher, Furnace Creek 508 finisher and have multiple other races and events to my credit over a 35 years in endurance sports. In short, I'm not going into this attempt blind, although my sanity might (once again) be called into question.

This is a report on the Badwater Duathlon 281 -
135 miles on bike from the Portal Store to Badwater,
then 146 miles on foot to the summit of Mt. Whitney.
The start times in the form are for the Badwater
146 portion, since there's no space for a bike start.
The start time of the bike was 8:04am on July 25th, 2015.
